Re-potted tall neck plants into red solo cups

I am helping a friend out and she had the lights too high above the plants, so they started making long necks. I re potted them in red solo cups with their necks berried. Just wondering if the root mass will grow up above their previous dirt line or if they will only grow down from here on.

They also had barely any root mass, not surprised since they had little light. There's less than a inch of dirt on the bottom. I'll eventually get them into 1 or 2 gallon growbags.

I was told they are doing really good now, now that the lights are closer.

Roots will grow out of the sides of the buried stem, not just the bottom of the stem.

I'd go ahead and transplant them into 2 gallon pots and bury them up to 5mm below the leaves, that'll help prevent the stems from breaking later on when LST and also switching to bloom from the extra stain and weight

Yea we'll get them into 2 or 3 gallon pots soon. This is a tall strain and we don't have much space for 8 plants so I was thinking of topping them. But yea we'll have to get a fan to strengthen the stems.

Oh yeah, a fan is gonna be a must to help strengthen them, and hopefully the roots will develop quick, I'd recommend vegging them as long as you can also.

Update. They're growing well. Will be transplanting into 3 gallon bags soon.

They seem to really like it. They are leaning towards it and not so much towards the three lights above. They are further away though.

I'll find out what product it was exactly. Probably just some cheap universal grow strip.
