rdwc roots look terrible but plants are amazing.

I have BF Critical Kush going and Dinafem Cheese going now in a RDWC and the plants look amazing I vegged them for 5 weeks from seed and they have been on 12/12 light schedule for 13 days now and look amazing. They grow at least 2" per day and the main stalk is at least 1.5" think about the size of a redbull can and the side branches are bigger than a nickle, but my problem is that the root are brown and always have been brown. Here recently they seem to have gotten slightly browner and I just don't like the color, the roots are still growing fine though, if I were to take a guess the roots all together from both plants weigh over 20lbs so they are pretty much massive as are the plants I just don't get it. My last DWC the roots stayed brown the whole time and I never had any problems. The roots are not slimy just dark brown at the top near the netpot and light brown just under the water and at the very bottom the tips are pearly white and look very healthy. I just wish the roots looked healthy so I know that everything is good and there is nothing to worry about, I am going to the hydro store soon to get a commercial air pump instead of the aquarium pumps I have been using. BTW there are now light leaks at all anywhere.

ALL THE DETAILS OF THE GROW:

PH 5.8-6.0 EC 2.0-2.3 Res Temp 65-68 Room Temp 75-80 Res size 10gal 6watt air pump
Top feed for 15min every 4 times daily

Nutrients: Flora series 3 part, Hygrozyme, subculture B and Calmagic.

I use distilled water with tap water but mostly distilled.

Lose the Hygrozyme. That shit is no bueno in RDWC. It may be the cause of your brown roots.

Btw, I have great big fat hairy rootballs under my ladies and I just run nutes, no additives.

Topfeed? Explain?

i dont like rdwc if one plant gets problems you can normally watch them go one by one after

Its just a 2 plant set up but I love the growth and vigor, rdwc is just so easy I just don't think I had enough air flow now I have a 41w commercial air pump and it is putting serious oxygen in there. I just purchased this pump yesterday and it swirls the water in a 10 gal reservoir with lots of bubbles, I will keep everyone posted as to the root progress..

I have been using hygrozyme for 2 previous grows with success and no problems, I have been top feeding 4 times per day I guess it isn't necessary so I will turn off the water pump and see if that helps. I also picked up some liquid kool bloom the bulking formula just to try it out and see if I notice any differences.

It's likely a stain. RDWC doesn't really do a good job of keeping the microherd alive because there is nothing for them to attach to.
I replace the beneficial's every few days because of that reason I have been top feeding pretty much just because I was lazy and didn't turn the water pump off. But the plants look ridiculous I don't see a sign of stress on the plants at all except for brown roots.

Huh? I got rid of the AIR PUMP. The water pump is still in there.

The water pump is still in there that is on a timer to top feed but I turned it off a few minutes ago so I am no longer top feeding. I have a 41w air pump I got yesterday before that I was using a 6w aquarium air pump.

I hate to stop top feeding because I go by a motto that if nothing is wrong don't change it, and my plants grow 1-3" per day everyday and if I didn't remove leaves daily they would have overgrown my tent by now. My water pump also disturbs the water when it is on kinda like making artificial current in the reservoir but my new air pump disturbs it even more than the water pump so I guess again there is no need for the water pump.

These things are beasting it I mean its just insane the day to day difference in these plants. My 3'x4'x6' space is completely packed, I am using the screen of green technique and there are well over 100 tops probably closer to 200 tops in this small area and I am very pleased with the growth so far. Today is day 19 since I flipped photo period to flower and not only do I already have bud formation on over 50 tops but the buds are the size of my thumb and very dense, the other 100-150 tops are smaller with less formation and are covered with long thick white calyxes but really they are only about 3-5 days behind the larger tops. I have been foliar feeding 1.2 EC every 2-3 days of the GH Liquid kool bloom bulking formula and they seem to love it, I have almost stopped using everything except for the GH micro, bloom, kool bloom, calmagic, subculture B. I haven't used the hygrozyme since I noticed the brownish roots and I treated with H2o2 last rez change and new white hairy roots are exploding out of everywhere. My last grow RDWC I didn't have this much bud formation by day 19, it was more like day 28 before I saw buds like these last time. Not really seeing alot of trichomes yet but there are some, mostly just thick white hairs everywhere. I will keep you guys posted as to the progress and If I run into anymore issues I will be sure to ask for more advise thanks guys.

the air pump is more important than the top feeding water pump mate

Yea obviously there is nothing wrong even though the roots are brown at the top where they leave the net pot, today is day 21 since I flipped the lights and the buds have nearly doubled again since my last post 2 days ago. I went back and looked at pics from my CFL grow and I didn't see buds like this until like day 30 so I would say things are great now. Everyday I sit in front of my grow tent and just thumb through all the branches looking at all those sticky tops with my mouth watering and think about what is to come. I am guessing that with my 600w light I will clear 1lbs dry, being that in a space 1/4 of the size with CFLs I pulled over 100g dry. I have been feeding between 2.2-2.4 EC since I flipped the lights to flower and they are both loving it they are for sure heavy feeders. The Critical Kush seems to be a few days ahead of the Cheese in flower but in veg the Cheese was for sure ahead of the Critical Kush. I have been keeping my light 6-12" from the tops, since they have been stretching I can set the light at 12" away and within a few day they will be 6" away from the light. I think I am pretty much done with the stretch now and I can keep it at about 10" and they seem very happy, my light is air cooled and my internal grow room temps never exceed 79 degrees or I wouldn't recommend keeping the light so close. I have height restrictions because I vegged alittle too long so I tried to keep my light very close during the stretch.

Ttystick is right, hygrozyme will fuck your rdwc up. I have seen from first hand experience lol. Stick with the h202 from here out.

Pics or it didnt happen
The only camera I have is on my phone and I just don't feel comfortable posting pics from my phone online, sorry dude I have nothing to prove just want to include all the details so that if I run into anymore problems all the info is in the thread, and I kinda wanted to brag a little about my two monster plants. When I am done with this grow I shutting things down again until I relocate so I will post pics then.
