I watched a show one time that explained it on motorcycles. I can't remember if it's both wheels or just the wheel that provides power. It creates a gyroscope. The faster it goes, the more stable it is. I'm assuming it is the same for a bicycle, being the faster you go on it the easier to keep your balance.

Centripetal force

Unless I'm confused centrifugal force keeps you pinned to the wall in one of those amusement park rides. Where as centripetal force keeps an object in plane with it's plane of rotation. Anyone?
