Quitting concentrates = not fun

Started making my own concentrates about 3 yrs ago and have been smoking it since fairly consistent. Developed a hell of a cough lately and decided to go back to vaporizing just flower.

Decided to go cold turkey on Sunday for a 30 day break then go back to vaporizing to regain the magic.

Definitely having withdrawals which are not unlike a light opiate withdrawal which I have been on methadone, TR oxycodone and tramadol in the past ( 2 vertabre fractures).

I guess my question is.... are THC receptors and opiate receptors the same? and respond the same?

I'm having insomnia, stomach problems, headache, agitation and clothes soaking sweats.

Not uncommon with me either, same boat as you. Been strictly smoking concentrates for over 3 years now. Similar symptoms minus the cough. Feel flu like for several days, cold turkey is the worst, try bringing your dabs down to one a day, go as long as you can before dabing during the day, limit to just one dab. Then get off the rig and vape or puff, and slowly reduce until your at one puff a day. It will be a lot easier than cold turkey, or just smash your glass, and suffer the consequences.

THC receptors are different from opiate receptors. If you mean respond the same, means if the receptor will accept the molecule it does, then yes they respond the same. Insomnia can be from the pain that cannabis was masking. Stomach problems can be from not getting the anti-inflammatory that your body was getting from the thc, or cbd. Agitation could be from the stress of change. Don't know about sweats and headache. What have you been doing to replace cannabis? Stay busy.

thanks for the replies!...I'm using the Thomas Recipe which is the same vitamin/supplement I used to get off of opiates. It might have taken the edge off. If I had not had withdrawals before when I weaned off of Methadone I probably would not have been as prepared mentally. My tolerance quickly went through the roof on concentrate so it felt like I was going through the motions so a break was really needed. No more concentrates for me because I know I'll just go back to that same tolerance level.

I am just getting started making my own concentrates. I want to use it for stealth times and special occasions. I still like to smoke or vape flower and do not see that stopping anytime soon. I will still smoke a big fat joint in a heartbeat :bigjoint:
I have read where it is good to take "tolerance" breaks when leaning on concentrates full time. I have nothing but what I have read to go off of.
Sure do like my little wax pen

I quit smoking concentrates a few months ago too. Every time I smoked it would make me throw up. It would just make me nauseous. It was not always like that, I smoked for almost a year. I made my own out of buds heat purged under a vac for a very long time. Product was very pure and great, everyone loves it....just not me. As far as your withdrawals, they will become less severe. It's not as much a chemical dependency as it is psychological. No doubt it's much healthier for you to abstain than to put super hot smoke into your lungs daily. I'm going to start making/cooking with edibles after the next harvest just to space out the smoking part a bit cause I smoke a lot of flower!

would smoking flowers of a high cbd strain help with cutting back and getting off dabs, or going on a tolerance break in general?
like, maybe start your tolerance break with a 1:1 ratio strain like cannatonic, and after a few days or a week go down to something closer to R4 or charlotte's web, and then cold turkey off the bud that probably wasn't getting you high in the first place?

Both my wife and I have quit temporarily several times in the past with no withdrawal symptoms.

As far as developing a tolerance to marijuana, we've found that alternating strains every couple of days keeps us from developing a tolerance.
