Quick question on ducting. +REP FOR HELP

OPEN TO ALL CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM!:bigjoint:

I have about a week left before flower.. I'd really like to have this box up and running by the end of VEG time.. will be going into week 6 of veg.. under about 160w of CFL pushing a max of 9600 daylight lumens..

Ok i have my box pretty much all set now and im just doing some of the final tweakings for flower stage..

Im using a 6" 250watt Cool tube..about 15 3/4" overall length ... with a 250watt digital greenhouse electronic ballast and a reg. 250watt HPS bulb.

My box dimensions are:

38"L x 19"W x 58"H

the setup of the two pics are the exact setup of my box cept for the ducting right now.. and the placement of the scrubber not really sure where to put that as well.. but thinkin i will find a spot for it after i get my ducting and fan up .. as of right now im not sure if it will be pulling or pushing air.. thru the ducting .. im actually not even sure whats better and less stressful on the fan ..
the fan runs at a (supposed) 207 CFM's but i dont have a way to test it .. so again.. im assuming im getting full use out of it.

You can do it either way but I would go with the straight through flow myself just to cut any flow restrictions. While you can do it the way you have it drawn up in a way you are defeating the purpose of a CoolTube. The idea is to drawn cool air into and through the tube at a rate where the heat from the light does not cause you temperature problems.
 
You should run an air intake directly to your CoolTube and then the exhaust out from your CoolTube and out of the box and if you need to you can install something like a computer fan or something more powerful for the box temperature itself and to bring in air.
 
I was curious as to what sort of baffling system or whatever that you had in mind to light proof your passive air intake?

Well right now.. the way that its setup.. i have womens panty hose taped over the whole to block any bigger airborne particles from getting in.. and i have a box attached to it.. with a couple turns in it.. basically a light trap.. this is the best i can do as of right now.. im not sure what else i can do for it right now.. any suggestions would be apreciated.

thats pretty much what i did.. but this is more streamlined then the one i made for myself.. as it was just a quick fix for the time being..

I recommend pulling cool air from outside the cabinet to pass through the cool tube. This is what I did. When the light is on the cabinet is only 10 degrees above ambient.

thank you for all your help... i think this is the setup im gonna go with .. i've been messing around with it some.. and temps are only 9 degree's hotter then lights out.. so its shooting around 79 max. lights on.. and lights out around 69-70 so im gonna go with that...

That sort of system would work for him but since his is a passive intake if he wanted to save the room inside the box he could build it on the outside.

Another easy option, depending on the size of the air intake, is if it happens to be the size of a piece of PVC you can make an elbow coming out of the hole and then run it to the back of the outside of the box and elbow around the back and go across the back and then elbow to the other side.

No light is making that many turns.

Something similar could be done just snaking back and forth going up the one side outside of the box keeping all the PVC tubing on one side.

If the opening is large enough dryer ducting can be used too. Snake that back and forth a number of times and no light is coming in.

You are all still welcome to leave your input on my setup..this setup works for me... but im always lookin for a way to go play with my babies.. and make there envirement better or as best as i possibly can ... under the circumstances. if you have done scrog before.. any idea's tricks...as this is my first scrog run .. i know its a bit trickier to do it in soil ... as opposed to hyrdo but .. im stubborn.. but hey...thats me... i have read a shite ton on scrogg'n..so im hardly running this blind.. but again .. any constructive criticism welcome....

yes.. thats essentially what i have now.. i have a sealed (taped box lol) just one intake hole.. and i put 6 turns in the box.. that the light would have to go thru and i look thru the top cpu fan i dont see any light coming thru my intake ... altho it is passive at the moment ... i can still feel air pull from the box when i hold it over the box intake ...i can easily add a cpu fan in the box to push fresh air thru ... i have 8-9 of the buggers hanging around ...
