Quick question for fellow New Mexicans

¡Hola hermanos y hermanas!

I'm starting an outdoor grow next summer. My question is: Is there a problem with the heat during the summer for outside grows? Being in the 90's and triple digits for months on end is a little intimidating.

Anyone on here grow outdoors in The Land of Enchantment? :)

Use a shade cloth, I use a 40% shade cloth with good results. 40% or 50% density will work well. If you can not use one for stealth reason or what not then you should find a good strain to handle the heat. If you can find real Afghani that will work well for you.

Opps,my bad.

Bro there is so much out there today one could compile you a serious list.My best advice is to check with seedbanks that deal in sativas or land races.Your sure to find some thing to tickle your fancy.I don't think you'll find any indicas or hybrids that would fair well in your conditions.granted you are lookin at longer flowering time but sativa is the dealeo.I'd rather be high than stoned myself.

Is there no way you can get some thing locally by chance or that out of the question?

I can get seeds from any medical producer. I tend to steer clear of Indicas. They aggravate my PTSD. I only use Indicas to sleep and that's rarely. Thanks for the info Jonesinator and Dankster. I'm a true newbie to outdoor growing. My biggest worry is the monsoon season. The weather gets extremely violent. We've had entire trees blown down and flash floods that go through our property. :)

I'm not worried about stealth. it's a medical grow and I have a license.

i am thjinking of moving to Farmington/Bloomfield next year, so i am curious f this as well^^
The first question is, why? There is nothing here. No jobs. Nothing. I live out in the sticks between Farmington and Shiprock. I love it here but people moving here from out of state tend to hate it. What brings you out this way? Relatives? Job prospect?

Where in NM? Very different climates in various parts of the state. For the most part, the critical flowering time. NM has perfect weather, 70-80 days and cool night. If it's real hot where you are you'll get less density in your buds. but it will still grow and yield you some nice fruit.

I'm in the four corners area. It has been in the 90's and triple digits since May. Right now it's a wonderful 68 and it rained all night last night. I sat out in the rain for about an hour. I loved it. We don't get much and the monsoons were weakened by La Niña. Hopefully next summer it will be back to normal.

During the long days of summer the heat is less of an issue, it's when the flowers start to pack on that you want things cooler, which works out great in most parts of NM, although your season may be a bit shorter as those cold fronts like to dip down just low enough to hit the four corners area! I don't know if your season will be long enough for sativas, and man will they grow into some trees with those long summer days. Try a couple different things. It's a weed, it will grow and you'll likely get a sack of somethin in the end.

I hope so. I am excited. I am starting my winter grow in a couple of weeks as soon as the temps stabilize and I don't have to worry about heat issues.

Hey, I'm not personally from NM, but I did used to live in Texas. An hour north of Dallas. Not the exact same, but this plant comes from THE MIDDLE EAST and AFRICA. It strives in high sun, and high heat. Sorry if someone else already covered this, I only read the thread, I'm sorry. I'm not from NM so I decided not to read the rest.
