Quick question about Topping

my plants are just over a month old (i'll post pics below so you can see) but what i was wondering is what is the correct time to top your plants? i have read not in the flowering process, and i've heard right before you start the flowering process. i am just looking for someone with the right anwsers. thanks

usally during veg this way the bottom can grow more then flower with even canopy

Looks like urs is ready to top are you cutting it or bending it. I usally bend it.

usually by the 4th or 5th node they should be fine to top, i did mine at 5. they all turned out well, with each new top having two colas. you should be able to see them in this picture.

So what exactly should we do? Snap the top off just above the last two developing branches? Snap, Crackle & Clone right?

When I cut the top I usally try to clone it. Or I just bend it gently till its at 90 degree angle it will fixs itself in a day or so. It usally cracks a little .
Tip: gently smash stem between fingers to soften so it just doesnt break off. Be patient cuz I've snapped a few. It takes practice

sorry no pix but the idea is to lightly stress the top so bottom grows and catches up to top. Hope that helped a little

Here are a couple of links about topping and using FIM. also before and after pics of an FIM topped plant (not very clean cut but sprouted four new nodes). You should let your new nodes appear and establish themselves before switching to 12/12.

dont bother cloning your toppings, just cut off the apical meristem (very tip growth) and wait 2 weeks. for each top, 2+ will grow out in its place. i top all throughout veg so i end up with dreadlocks of colas, but the idea of topping isnt just to let the bottom catch up - true it will divert some energy to other branches, but topping is mostly used to create more heads, the weed will grow like a xmas tree if you dont top it at all. alot of ppl who do sea of green dont top so they can fit more plants, but topping is ideal to bush out your plant and give it tons of tops.
