Questions on vac purging

Hello all, I normally scroll through the threads but I have a specific question. When I make bho, I heat purge at 110-120 until the butane boils off, then scrape onto parchment and put into vac chamber at around 90°f. Lately with my last few runs the bho has been oily, compared to my other runs which were more taffy-shatter like. Any ideas? :?:

yeah, it doesnt sound like your decarbing with your heating and vac tech.

different strains are notorious for being more sticky

add that with a little bit of age on the material

I've been where you are, run fresher material.

Do you know the grower and what's been done to the plant during it's growth?
Pesticides, neem oil, veg oil bug spray concoctions can fuck up the quality, viscosity, etc. of the extracted oil.
A lot of stuff can negatively affect the quality of your extract

I've heard some people refuse to use neem oil treated plants for making BHO. Does it matter if no neem oil was used after flowering started? What are the negative effects from using néem treated plants for BHO? I've seen BHO made from both, neem treated and un treated, and I didn't notice any difference at all. Just curious about this, I've heard both- some say it doesn't matter others say it does. What's your opinion? Thanks

Hey BWG I think I know you from another forum a few years ago...
Ya man I have found it makes it very hard for the oil to firm up if you are trying to make a firm wax/honeycomb/moonrock etc..
And more of a bitter taste to the smoke. It stays in your mouth and on your tongue like a tin metallic kind of flavor.
That is my findings with it from my own crop that I had used neem on. I ran the oil at the same time as running non neem sprayed flowers of the same strain etc. So the affect was very obvious. The neem sprayed flower extract also had an oily film on it even as it tried to harden up during vac purge. The same butane brand was used for both batches.
Not sure about using the neem pre flowering having the same affect. I would imagine it may not but not sure. I don't know if the plant is absorbing it into it's system and then later having an affect on the flowers tastes and oil production.

You could have seen me on other forums. I have a lot of different interests/hobbies. This internet really frees up a lot of easily accessible info. Makes more DIY projects possible.

Thanks guys! Out of everything, I ruled it to be aged material. The waxy oil became a more stable material after a few days of sitting :)

ive also noticed stinky buds make stickier oils.. i have some nug that no matter when i extract it.. fresh frozen or cured. it will not get hard.. it gets to a taffy like pull fast and it snaps.. but slow and it stretches out.. i think it also is terpene related.
