Question on pushing air through carbon filter outside of tent

Yeah ok. I’ve done it a shit load of times. Wash it from inside out flushing dust and whatnot. Then let it set out in the sun for a day or 2 then bag it for the next time I use it.
Lol...you might get some dust out of the outer surface but your really just wrecking your filter...its not a K&N dude

I would rinse the carbon filter out real good with high pressure water. Then let dry completely before use. You could also dry it in an oven if it fits. And if the prefilter doesn’t have much surface area it will restrict your flow also

If high humidity hurts carbon filter performance would wet carbon be neutralized? I think yes.

No. It has enabled me to get 2.5 years like the website says is possible. No weed smell when replaced from my perpetual flower room or drying closet.
Odds are the filter wasnt spent to begin with. Banging on it to expose unused carbon is BS

I ran a Can75 for 5 years continuosly before I replaced it...it was still filtering out odour when I did replace it but after 5 years, it didnt owe me anything.

Can filters have pellet carbon. Phresh has granular. Shaking the granular carbon up allows more air to pass through unused carbon.

And no carbon filter could stand the 24 hour 12 month a year continuous use I need for 5 years. It never gets a break like from a veg cycle.

Granular..pellet...same shit different pile. If the carbon can move inside the filter air can bypass the carbon...think about it. Empty space is a leak path. A leak is a path of least resistance.

So do you guys all agree that 8" is plenty to give an 8'x4'x78" tent complete odor control? If the problem is the filter than I will go from there. But if it simply isn't enough, providing degradation of air flow from dust filter, 90 degree elbow, 3 feet of duct and carbon filter than I need to up to 10". Where do you feel is my problem?

I understand that. The point is it would be rendered useless. I believe you have to heat the carbon to reactivate. Pretty sure that’s what the diy Growers do.
You do realize activated carbon is used in water right? Water doesn’t ruin it or nutralize it. The high humidity thing has nothing to do with water hurting the carbon. It just means that smell is harder to filter out with high humidity

and to reactivate carbon it takes more heat the a diy could do

It hardly moves dude. You can only hear outside grains moving along the aluminum.

I will stick with my research and the website instructions.

The can light filters have the same tip. They have the carbon the phresh filter uses.

I just tap on them and rock them some when I change pre filters. Not much work for better performance.

That’s a good point. But the water degrades and uses up the carbon steadily.
