[Question] Lighting

Hello guys this is my first post on rollitup! And also my first grow, my plant is currently at 5 days old atm. Right now I got a 5k bulb on my little seedling, (I couldn't find anything higher in home depot). My plan at the moment is get stronger bulbs maybe at lowes since I couldn't find any at home depot. I attached pictures of my plant at 5 days old on the bottom of the thread.

I got a couple of questions on CFL lighting...

Questions:

Is it better to keep the light high above the plant or as close as possible? Because I am considering on doing on a PC case stealth grow and I see people with 4 CFL's together on top of the computer case and its pretty far from the plant.

Whats the best type of light setup with CFL's... (Example how many bulbs should you have throughout the Veg/Flower state).

How many CFL's is too much?

Should you mix up the CFL's K's or stay with the same K amount? (Example if you had 2 bulbs that were 5ks, 2 that are 6.5k and lets say some that are in the 2.5k range).

Would CFL's crack/break/explode if they are touching each other, considering the heat they may pass through each other?

A 5000K bulb is sliding into that valley of low absorption. Generally, you want to stick to 6500K and 2700K as they're the healthiest for your plant and wallet, and will get you the highest yield. Go heavier on the 6500K bulbs in veg, then heavier on the 2700K in flowering, as those particular temperatures are similar to what a plant would experience if you were growing outdoors.

Proximity to the plant should be as close as possible without overheating the plant. If you don't know how far that is, put your hand close to the bulb and keep it there for a few seconds. If you can feel the heat, move away, and vice versa if you cannot feel it. That's generally a good indicator for how far away you should keep your bulbs. Keep in mind that plants still need good air flow to grow, so make sure not to suffocate that little guy.

More info can be found in the "CFL Proximity to Foliage" sticky.
