I would like to ask the experts about my set up i have a 8x11x8 room with a vortex 8" 747 cfm exhaust fan and 2 1000w hps bulbs 8" hoods being cooled with a 440cfm can fan intake and exhaust for lights is indepenent of room. my grow store told me i should have a 6" air intake into the room. exhausting 8" with a 6 inch intake will give the room a negitive pressure is this what i want? seems to me the exhaust fan will just have to work extra hard.

Thanks Madmartin

Hi Martin
Yes negative pressure is good in small amounts. if your unit is not airtight, air will pass through the cracks. using a large intake will also prevent negative pressure to occur. when there is no negative pressure, odour may seep from places which would go un noticed other than the clue from the strange smell even when your running carbon filters for instance.

When i close my grow room door it has the action of a fridge door being sucked closed
