Question about transplanting Autoflowers

Ok, I'm new to Autoflowering strains. I know that you're not supposed to transplant them and from what I've read, you're supposed to plant them directly into whatever you plan on finishing them in. My question is.. Should I start them in peat pots indoors for a week or so and then transplant the pot and all into holes that I've already prepped for my outdoor grow this year? I've read that they grow fast but I'm not sure if they'd outgrow the peat pots in a week and I want to minimize any sort of shock that they might encounter. Any info on this would be great. Thanks in advance!
(I'm still growing photos but have purchased 5 Fast and Vast and 5 Northern Lights x Big Bud to try and get in an early harvest to hold me over til the photos finish)

you might be better off with a styrofoam cup then just tear the cup away from the dirt before transplanting i would be scared the plant would feel restricted and limit vertical growth from the peat cup not breaking down fast enough just a thought

aslong as you dont tear the roots up or let it get root bound then your good to go with transplanting alot of the vertical height in the final stages of the plant will be judged by how easily the roots can stretch in the first few weeks a week in a cup shouldnt hurt it

Thanks for answering.. I wasn't sure if the peat cups would work out or not. I was thinking about starting them in 3 gallon pots lined with newspaper and when it was time to transplant outdoors, using the newspaper to gently lift them out of the pots.. in hopes that the newspaper would keep the soil in tact, that way I could sit them down in the holes and remove the newspaper. I still have about a month or so but I always plan ahead.
Have you ever tried lsting autos or training them in any way?

My last auto grow I used peat pucks by Jiffy, as per usual you get a little nute burn each time the tap root grow into the current medium, but water well should recover, I do prefer to grow in 4 inch pots, by placing the germed seedling in the Jiffy puck then to the 4 inch pot, once big enough to the 3 gal or outside, if frost free, many auto growers advise noobs to avoid potting up in favor of a direct seed to the main pot, this is to avoid transplant shock, but if you have experience in potting up, you should recover fine, if necessary a little vitamin"B" a little water for the shock and she should be fine
.
The deal is too anticipate the growing of the auto, and realize the clock is ticking, weather or not!

In my veggie garden, tomato plants especially, I use newspaper in pots when I transplant from their starter pots. I guess that I'm overly careful when it comes to plants in my other garden. I've grown MJ on and off for quite a few years but never messed with the autoflowering strains.
My biggest concern is how fast the root system grows.. at least that's what most of the info I've read about them states and I'm not sure what to expect. The weather around here is highly unpredictable to say the least and I have to start them indoors. It was in the high 80's over the weekend and then snowed and was down in the 20's yesterday and last night but now in the high 50's. Hopefully the weather stabilizes next month and won't have to worry about frost.
Have you ever trained an auto in any way? I was thinking of LSTing some of mine. The fast and vast is supposed to get up to 4ft tall..the NL x big bud can reach over 5ft but that's also coming from the breeders and I never take them too seriously.
Thanks for all the info, I really appreciate it. I want to learn as much as possible before the big day comes.

I FIM my autos on the 2nd lateral, for about 1/2 a joint of dried herb, although this year I will be looking at grafting my FIM'd tops to male roots ...? wait and see, I'll continue this method and do a write up, only if the 2 sections can be mated successfully in under 10 days, 5 days would be better, I need to get that grafting tape...!

My current auto is the short stuff auto #1 ...a very shitty and disappointing plant and hence a real challenge

I don't go that in-depth with my ladies.. and have never grafted with any of them. Although, I have seen grafting done on fruit trees and have thought about trying it out on some of mine. It'd be kind of cool to see 4-5 different kinds of fruits growing from one tree.
That sucks about only getting a half of a J per plant, I'd hate to see that happen with mine.. and that's why I'm seeking out as much info and insight into growing these autos. I couldn't find much info on the Fast and Vast auto's but have seen a few recent grow journals of people growing it indoors and it seemed to consistently put out around 4-6 oz per plant. The breeder claims around 2-7 oz per plant and I'd be happy with 2. I also see that Herbie's took the claim of 75-200g outdoor yield off of their advertisement and now just advertises 600-800g/m2.
Wow.. they weren't kidding when they named that plant. Do you grow indoor, outdoor, or both?

i think he meant he smokes what he cut off when he FIM'd
i saw some one on this forum use strawberry baskets the ones that they are packed in at the grocery store and covered the outside with tin foil i believe then just pulled off the tin foil and planted it basket and all

Oooh.. makes sense now that I re-read that part haha. After reading some of the things that people post about how touchy auto's are and how easily they're stressed, I'm afraid to FIM or top them.. or stress them in any way for that matter. It seems like half of the questions that people post about their autos is about how they screwed something small up and the plant stops growing then only end up with 4-5gs of dried herb.

This is one of my babies from last year.. the pic kind of sucks though bc I could only get to where she was at night but if you look close you can make it out haha. I think this was one of my Blue Dream plants.. I can't remember though.
