So without giving out the details too much, my dad is a teacher and works at an autobody shop and I usually bring my car there to be repaired. It's been quit a while since I've smoked in my car (about 5 months or so) and I wanted to take it to his school to get worked on but they have drug dogs that come in randomly and he said they'e been coming in more and more often.

So my question is, since i haven't smoked in there in a really long time am I safe or is it possible that they could still catch a scent in there??

I don't think it is illegal to smell like weed.
That's not really the point.. I'm not worried about anyone getting arrested because I wouldn't be stupid enough to leave anything in the car when I drop it off there... but the last thing I would want to do is bring attention to someone who's doing me a favor you know?

Yea I'm going to just give the car a really thorough cleaning and hope that I don't have horrible luck and they decide to search on the day that I'm there =)

Go out in the country and run over a skunk, that should throw those puppies off the scent:shock:

More remnant cannabinoids are already floating around that shop than you'll be bringing in.. If what you say triggers the dog, then they're definately familiar with it yielding false positives..
And in a fluke where you end up getting questioned, stand your ground.. You have no idea why the dog is barking.. Do not say that you haven't smoked weed in there for months, just say I dunno, its your dog.. You tell me why its barking..

Thanks for the tip... actually I wouldn't be there when it's happening and this is something that happens randomly a couple times throughout the course of the year. I wouldn't have to be there at all, I'm just dropping my car off to get worked on an d that's it. I've done it loads of times before but I got paranoid when I heard that they were doing more and more of these types of searches.

Your too worried, a smell is only enough to get the cop to search. If there is nothing in your car then you won't even get questioned and neither will anyone else.
