!!!Quartz Glass Blower Wanted!!!

Hello everyone, first post in the glass section for me. Im a blunt type of guy so i dont come around these parts often. haha

As the title says, im looking for a quartz glass blower.

Im trying to make/recreate a nail for an e-nail coil.

Ive seen the JH honey holes and the quartz domeless nails that come with the d-nails. My only problem with them is the intense price of them.

Please educate me if im wrong and if quartz glass or something in the process is very expensive to get ahold of or to work with.

But ive seen JH make his honey holes he charges almost 100 for (sometimes more depending on the headshop/website markup) and they take about 10-15 minutes to make. Along with probably some kiln time for annealing.

Now im all for makin a buck especially when you have the overhead and the equipment purchases of a bigger, well known glass blower.

But thats why ive come here. Hoping to find a new but skilled glass blower to help me make some nice domeless quartz nails for my enails that i am making and just for people in general.

Heres one of the quartz domeless nails that can be purchased with the dnail

Feel free to pm me if you want to talk more directly, if not this thread is open for discussion.

I dont know a ton about glass blowing so feel free to add any information anyone may know.

I just wanted one for myself at first but when i saw the price and realized that id be paying as much for a nail as it costs to make my DIY enail i couldnt let it slid and figured id try to go straight to the source. Since then ive found some other people who like quartz like i do for the properties it has vs TI along with the usually high price of TI and the chance game you play buying cheap "grd2 TI".

Im all about helping people out and getting good quality products to those who dont have as much money as others for a reasonable price. Thats why i started making e-nails in the first place. Tired of people paying 400-600 dollars for a very simple piece of equipment. I want to bring enails to a more affordable range and to go along with that ive been looking at a few ceramic and quartz as well as TI nails to try to find the most bang for my buck so i can then pass those savings onto the customer. No one wants to spend $500 on an enail when they can spend $250 and buy $250 worth of wax for said enail. haha.

Thanks in advance for any help/info/services anyone can add to this thread.

I just emailed the person who blows quartz! I will let you know!

Hell yeah THANKS!!! Been lookin for a while with no luck so far. Talked to a few glass blowers who dont really mess with quartz alot. Even debated asking one of the "scientific" glass blowing company online that do custom orders and try to make up some crazy explanation for the piece i want to get made without them realizing theyre making "concentrate nails" because im pretty sure they wouldnt be down haha.

Let me know ASAP and join the DIY e-nail thread i started if it sparks your interest.

Thats good at least! Keep me informed and let me know what the prices are once you figure it out. One step closer.

This person i follow on instagram who sells alot of quartz pieces is workin on it too. Theyre also in the process of making TI ones too like the new HE ones.

Just spitballing here .. What about an adapter for the nail so you could fit the coil on? I mean like take a titanium or class cylinder drill a hole in the middle and cut length wise. The coil would hold in place and could be tapered, coil or nail adapter as to make a tight fit.

Ive been trying to think of one for a while but i dont think any would work. Some people have used the quartz clubs and put the coils on those. I might try that because those on ebay are only 10-20 bucks.

Or what about making the unit one piece. Wrapping coil to nail. Yeah the coil would always be on there but a disconnect could be added to its power source.

The coils dont like being unwrapped and rewrapped. Most of them break if you even stretch it out too much. Not sure why but something about the inner workings of them. Probably breaks one of the leads off and causes a short or somethin. Ive found them from china and on ebay but theyre expensive on ebay and china has expensive shipping.

I wish i had like a grand to throw on supplies and open my own ebay headshop. Then i could get like 10 of each quartz nail and just resell to cover the cost and make a few bucks.

I like you thinking. I got a hydro system that I designed I feel the way about. If I had the money I'd build it and proof it then build some to sell. And it will be both professional looking but hand made. Complete hybrid system, can be used and adapted for any media, hybrid or basic hydro style. It's a beasty system lol.

But don't worry it will come with time you'll find a way I'm sure.

I hadn't really thought about the fact you where buying coils. I would look at the process used to make them the materials and temperatures. Coils are fairly simple I image you could replicate the process to make them easily. He'll even source better materials.

But while make them you will have to keep the glass in mind, probably heat the glass and metal both, then wrap it, then slowly, cool then both.

You could probably just heat an carefully rewrap their coils if you choose. The key is minimal distortion. But it cold be done with enough heat and patience. But I think making a coil would be simpler

I can get em made to any size from the people i get them from normally and i just hate that people are getting quartz nails from china for more or less $10 and reselling them for $75+

I feel it the profit margin in the marijuana market are fucked all the way around. The nutes the lights the seeds the rigs hell even the product itself a lot of times lol. It will get better with time. There is enough ingenuitive people growing now days all the prices will plummet as demand ceases and supply increases. Im like you trying to be ahead of the market. Cause eventually this balloon is gonna pop.:-) those left standing will be the ones who built it better for less.

Thanks man! It was worth a try. Quartz is a little more difficult to work with because you have to basically double the temp youre working with for simple boro. You might even need different gas/torches that burn hotter for all i know. And probably based on that a hotter kiln temp. Well ill find it one day.

Everyone stay up!

Yeah it's 1700 for working temp and hydrogen gas is recommended because of contamination, tho it can be done with propane tho.

As for annealing a kiln is nice but there is ways around not having one.
