Because I am pretty sute the only thing that keeps the chinese from taking the reigns from us is the fact that they would have to fight just about every american to take our freedom.
Right. If they came alone.

Japan made it's move on the U S when they surmised we were weak at home while fighting Nazis in Europe. They had us on the ropes until - in an act of near desperation - we nuked them.

In 2014, Russia made it's move on Crimea after surmising the impotence of President whatshisname [ must not say O word ]. A red line was laid down in Syria by the o man, who did nothing when they ignored it. ISIS beheads Americans with no consequences - like jihadists murdering a United States ambassador and getting away with it. The border is wide open - what's to stop a jihadist from intentionally carrying small pox or Ebola when he ventures in - or merely uses his passport to re-enter the country, as over 800 have done in Canada?

If China came alone, we could likely still kick their butt. Wolves, like cowards, attack in packs. If we deploy troops again in the Middle East - and we will - we're much weakened at home. ** Wait to see the mob violence explode again in Fergusen, MO when the cop doesn't get charged. ** Might be a good time to mention that Iran should surely have their nukes in 2015.

There's always been threats and wars and bad people like some have mentioned. What I'm suggesting, is that N America's capability to deal with multiple serious crisis' is questionable. At best. Terrorist acts have begun here. They'll continue. Lots of things are at the tipping point. And the US, led by the O man, is a sitting duck, and totally unprepared to deal with what's coming. You might rally to the cause, natro, but look around at your fellow citizens. Most of the cowboys are now extinct. The majority of the vocal citizens would castigate you for being an out of date 'patriot'.

ETA - You do realize that Major Hassan is not the only enemy infiltrator in our military, I hope? Nice to know that the military has to protect themselves not only from their opponents - but from their 'comrades'.

I've already laid out alternative actions, you've been thinking it's a blame game. It's not possible to solve a problem when you don't understand it's scope.

Let's use the elementary example of the leaky pipe. Water is causing damage. It does matree how the leak was caused. Sure the damage is done, but are you going to reinstall subpar materials again, are you going to put the pipe against a vibrating piece of machinery that may shake it loose again? No you are going to LEARN what caused the pipe to leak, assess the damage, and figure out a proper repair.

If only international geopolitical events were as simple as a pipe

Yea, ebola, a virus that you can only get by being in contact with blood/piss/shit/saliva the perfect bioweapon!

You should be more concerned about the flu, which kills 30000 Americans every year, some of them completely healthy.

Amen, brother. Amen indeed.

BTW - none of your 'actions' are realistic, as they take generations of time, and a willingness of the enemy to want to be agreeable. Good luck w/ that.

Intentionally over simplifying, in fact, to move the discussion out of the 'blame game', and into the 'what's your thought's on the now'? If TY and stOw were in charge of our gov't - today - how would this stoner administration deal with ISIS?

Keep in mind - they are here, and have began carrying out terrorism in N America. Like rats, if you see one, you know there's 5 more you don't see. So....you don't actually have a lot of time to hope to change the hearts and minds of future Muslim generations.

You have to find a plan that guarantees the safety of Americans, so that the country survives to future generations. IMO, that's your dilemma - what's your plan that has a chance to work?

I didn't quote it all, but I don't disagree with much in your post, other than - like TY - an assumption that N America survives intact to deal with problems forever and ever.

I think that assumption is vastly underestimating the very serious problems that are not in the future, but are, in fact, at hand.

I don't believe the acts carried out here, or in Canada were from jihadis trained along side ISIS fighter that they then sent here to do their dirty work. These were rouge individuals that disagreed with American/Canadian policy that acted alone. It's not as if ISIS has in infiltrated our country and we need to hunker down in bomb shelters.

I mentioned small pox in the same sentence, right?

It's not one concern, TY. We'd be fortunate to have one concern. You think bio-terrorism is far fetched? You're looking at an enemy that uses every possible means to win. Shrug that off, too....like everything else. :)

I could be wrong on this, but didn't America sit on the sidelines in WW2 *until* Pearl Harbor happened...... and then we got involved??

Hard to believe you think that.

Jihadist web sites urged their followers 'all over the world' to attack the west and western interests just a week ago. They specifically instructed to target military and police. 5 days later, 2 military in Canada are dead. Just a coincidence, I guess. 8)

Being native born or foreign born - one is better?

You've seen what's happened just since this thread has been discussing it - 2 months. Give it another 2 months, and let's reasess. Surely all is calm, and will remain so. :)

I don't know Amos. I really think this is being sensationalized a bit. I'm not trying to downplay the deaths of the two Canadians, but really.....30+ people are killed EVERY DAY in America by guns. If I'm going to sit around and worry about something, it's not going to be crazed Muslims carrying out jihad on me.

Well I guess since things take time we shall do nothing about anything

Yes, I'm sure these places with terrible infrastructure are sitting in a lab just waiting to release small pox.

Let's be realistic, these types of lone gun men incidents have occurred before, they will occur again. Hardly something to loose sleep over.

But perhaps I should just go a buy a bunch of can food and guns and worry about the sky falling.

I asked you before if you were concern trolling, you are doing exactly that again. Instead of engaging with responses you fall into the fallacy of reductionism and move goal posts to another concern. I find it difficult to have an honest dialogue if these are the tactics in communicating with you on these topics.

Per wikipedia:

"The attack came as a profound shock to the American people and led directly to the American entry into World War II in both the Pacific and European theaters.
uhh.......ooops.
Honestly that's still stretching it a bit, the US started fighting in the PTO in 1941 after D-day, and we started fighting in North Africa in 1942, and then in Italy a little in 1943, but not properly in Europe until D-day in 1944.

To be fair, nobody knows if that number includes the ones shot by cops or not, because nobody knows how many people are shot by cops.

"According to WABC-TV, the health worker had quarantined himself since returning to New York City from Guinea, where there have been1,540 cases of Ebola and 904 deaths since the outbreak began."

Not sure how accurate this is, but it breaks down the gun deaths and includes cops....

Well, at least we'll know where to assign proper blame.

...That article says 1 person a day is shot by a cop in the US. That might be close to the amount that gets reported/counted, but per Nate Silver "those statistics don't exist." The Daily Show just did this excellent piece on it, but its been a longstanding thing...
