I've been reading about these Quantum Boards. Are they better then COBs? I was looking into Timber or bc blondes for COBs.

they use the same tech, so you get the same spectrums

cobs excel is certain areas like the ability to be run super hard for cheap and simulate the point-source intensely penetrating light that a lot of people are used to indoors
in the usual $1-$2/watt range for LED builds they are more similar than different
either will be a huge quantum leap (no pun intended) over anything youve used before

I've used 600 watt HPS and a mars hydro unit. The mars hydro unit sucked.
What are your thoughts of the BC blondes 1100 watt unit? Are the cobs spaced too close together?
Are you not missing a sales opportunity here?

400 watts in COBs can replace a 600HID. 1100 watt can replace a 1000watt HID. With the right combination in COBs and driver(s), they can be operated at 50%.
I bought those turd led lights going from a 400 HID. You're 100% right. They're garbage. Now it's 170watts in COBs. I'd easily dare to say they cut veg time by 5 days. From seed, 21 days old. Indica dominant. Plants are 5" tall with 4 internodes. Woody stems and plush.

If BC lights ain't lying about the true wattage. 1100watts could replace two 600 watt and another single 400watt HID. Lol, Are these things coming with its own set of laser goggles? Do you have wear sun tan lotion to be able to work under it?

A lot of the spectrum off HID isn't usable or degrades rapidly over a year. It constantly loses efficiency over time. COBs mimics natural light spectrums more closely and the degrade in efficiency over time is so low it's not a concern.
I use two temperatures. 3000k and 3500k. Choices I didn't have in a bulb from Lowe's. I used a switchable ballast. HID in veg, HPS in flower. COBs make those bulbs look like wagon wheels.

COB does not mimic natural sunlight at all, it has zero uv and zero IR (no sunburn), sorry bro but you are wrong. And you can get different spectrum HPS lights, just gotta know where to buy them and not tryin to be rude but lowe's isn't a good spot to buy grow supplies. and if you are replacing your bulbs theres no reason to worry about degrading light....you just coming up with excuses to be honest.
Also a CMH is a far superior light to a COB. It has a real close to sun spectrum WITH UV and IR, unlike COBs.

170watts of the light coming off four COBs are doing what a 400HID did. The HID bulb changes the minute after you turn it on. The spectrum over a year isn't the same as more efficient led chips glued on a square of aluminum.
If you need a bulb on the down low. I'm not knocking bulbs at Lowe's.

Not trying to argue with you and shit, but 241w of light for 12-16 ounces is pretty good. And a bunch of people who have made the switch would disagree with you.
Again, COBs were developed to replace HPS in factory highbay/lowbay applications, and IR/UV notwithstanding, COBs should compare with HPS in light production and content, but with better efficiency. They are, after all, measured in daylight CRI and Kelvin like the HID bulbs, and they are full spectrum.
I'd say with around a pound of product per 241w, they're pretty great. IR/UV or not.

That's a decent haul, i'm getting similar hauls with my CMH's and they have IR and UV and also cost much less for the coverage. I'd wager the quality is better under these than the LEDs, i even think the quality under my HPS is better than the LEDs, i never was blown away from any of the LEDs i got, and i got several.

If your height restricted?.......i would pick the bare QB's and cover the walls with reflective material.
Cobs are good too and can mix and match Kelvin s if you want it "tailored" to your situation
