I feel the same way to an extent, but I almost joined it myself, so I might be able to give a little perspective..

A lot of the people put in that position simply have no other option or the options they do have weigh out to be less beneficial than the military. To some people, it truly comes down to homelessness or joining the military. To those people, I can't really fault them, the military option is attractive when you're looking at the real possibility of sleeping under a bridge or going without food.

It's no coincidence our voluntary force is made up of people who couldn't afford college or felt it wasn't right for them or couldn't get in, etc. The MIC is designed to recruit these people.

I saw a military ad for one of the nordic countries that was probably one of the best I'd ever seen, no bullshit, no lies, straight up 'this is what it is, this is what we're doing, join us if you think it will give you a better life even though some of the shit we do is fucked up'.. You try to send that message to American youth and you'd see recruitment numbers drop like sheskanks panties at a family reunion..

I'm not brainwashed. Felt the need to serve so I did.

I lost a lot of respect for the government after seeing the inner workings. The stupid shit they do with your taxes, might as well burn it. That doesn't mean I don't believe the oath I took.

Doesn't the oath you took rely on the idea that you were defending American freedoms?

There has been no point in time during my entire life I've felt my freedoms have been threatened by terrorism. If that's the case, how could the oath you took truly be genuine?

Our military and our soldiers are abused. If their reputation wasn't trashed on pointless wars and if we actually took care of our soldiers people would have more respect for the military.
