Hi folks, new in here so i hope i did this right. Got a few probs with a grow tent, i got ten clones in a not to healthy state and they have been in a hydro nft set up under a 600 wat hps lamp for 5 days and they dont look to well. its v dry in there about 20-30% when the lamps on, i know thats not ideal but ive got extraction and fresh air going in so i am struggling with that one, i looked at the plants this morning and ive got purple stems on most of them, yellowing leaves, some leaves are curling up others are curling down mainly lower ones i dunno if i over fed them orif i have a nutrient lockout or what the hell is going on really any help would be much appreciated. cheers.

maybe your watering them too much or the light is killing them. maybe try to use a florescent light. 600w light is real hot.

Dude sounds similiar to my situation. I have two clones and they are not looking to healthy either. I have been playing with the conditions and think I have a solution for your problem. Here is what I did. Get a thermometer (if you haven't already and set it level with the plants. Make sure it measures humidity too. Your light is too strong. i go with flourescent. (cool white) I have also put a pot of water with rocks in there to help with the humidity. It is set up in front of the plants so my little fan can blow the moisture onto the plants It seems to be working. Temp is 82 degrees farenheit and 44% humidity. I don't know if my clones will come back, but I keep hoping. :)

Amazing how quickly my lil darlings have sorted themselves out since i ammended the temp/humidity crisis. All the leaves were going very transparent and they were a really light green curling up at the edges praying for some moisture and a little less heat and a lilttle humidity( about 10 degrees less and a little better than bone dry lol)....... they have been 5 hours under there new conditions and "be jesus" there all turning a nice rich green and are laying flat and all the leaves on a couple of suspect plants that had near enough shrivelled up are coming out to play..... pucka.

Every NFT system that I've seen runs constantly. That's how the soup stays oxygenated. If your pump goes off, does the nutrient just puddle around the roots in the trough? If so, that's your problem.

A constantly running NFT unit usually causes higher levels of humidity, too.

And that light is beautiful for your grow, if it's too much for smaller plants, just raise it some.

HTH

Hi people, thanks for all the good advice and help . ive got an nft system with the tank of water and the tray sitting on top with the pump and the plants are sitting in rockwool cubes with the roots sitting in the matitng underneath, i cant leave that on all the time as the rockwool needs a little while to drain inbetween watering cycles otherwise they just fill up and become waterlogged...

Not to be a stickler or anything, (yeah, right!:-)) If you are flooding rockwool from above, I don't think I would call that NFT, where the nutrient film flows by, constantly bathing the roots, which are hanging down from whatever small amount of media the plant is anchored in. How much rockwool do you use? and is there any room under the rockwool for soup to flow?

hi there, yeah my fault i probably didnt explain that v well so ill post a pic..cubes sitting on matting being fed by a tube on a pump pulling up water and feed from below at set intervals decided by me on a trial and error basis...lol. there all happynow though temp and humidity bang on ...
