Premature harvest

Ok so I had a couple plants (outdoors) and I think I harvested a little early. I didn't want to,my old G did, I wanted to wait maybe a week or two but my old man who didn't listened to me, told me to harvest it. He said that his friends, which are some stupid gang faggets, told him if you look at the bud and its crystally like stars in it harvest it. I think it's still very too early to even touch anything on it! What do you guys think?

Could be a little early. Get a magnifying glass and look at the tricombs. First figure out what they are cause it sounds like your not sure when ripe is. Looks to me like it could come down now and still be ok with a longer cure, but it could also go a little longer and get more ripe. You also have to consider what the weathers gonna do in the next week, how many you have to deal with, and how many people are gonna help you, and how many plants you have. If you have lots it may not be a bad idea to get an early start but if you only have one....make damn sure you take it at the right time.

I have about 5 plants and I live in Cali so the weather is always warmer here about 79-90 degrees far. Yeah I just bought a magnifier online and just got here, it's a jewelry loupe 40x25 mm and I just took a look at the buds out drying and the trichomes look very crystal clear with some turning milky. So I'm assuming it's premature death and I just fucked up my batch?

Maybe. Do you see any amber ones at all? Even on the sugar leaves?

Weeks away from harvest in my opinion.
Yes that was what I'm afraid of. So yeah my old man f'd up my harvest then. He listened to outsiders and this happened. Never will I entrust my cannibas to my old man anymore. So much time invested. O well a mistake is to learn from and I will never listen to my old G again. Going with my knowledge from now on. Thanks for the insight. I was unsure

That sucks man. I had to harvest some plants that looked like that, but because they started moulding. If the bud is too low of quality to smoke you could make oil or edibles out of it. Better luck next time.

yeah a couple sugar leaves
Well thats a good sign. Usually youll see the sugar leaves showing the amber first and then right after youll see the buds get em. You couldnt have been too far out. Id rack em and when theyre ready to come off bag em and get em at the right humidity with bovidas or whatever, and then wait three or four weeks if you dont have the good smell right away. Or if theyre good just wait 10-14 days and you should be fine.

Yeah this is my first grow so I'm just still learning. Hopefully during the cure it will smell better. Now it's just smelling like fresh cut grass

It's all a learning experience so don't get to down on the result. Next year will be better after what you learned this year.

There's no reason to continue to check the trichomes now, they will turn amber more and more now that the plant is harvested. Next year, make sure all those straight white hairs have darkened and receded, then start checking trichomes. Also, keep track of the day you first see bud development, you're probably looking at 8 - 10 weeks of bud growth (indica) or 10 - 14 weeks (sativa) for the white hairs to disappear and amber trichomes to develop in abundance on your buds.

If you're in Cali pick up some clones. The fact what you grew doesn't smell sounds like it's the genetics because it should at least smell somewhat unless you rapid fire dried it.
