Im not so sure our plants want direct lighting from below.the leaf is designed to gather light from above and gather air/co2 from below.i guess i would. Need to see 2 clones side by side one with say 300w all from the top and one with 150w above and 150w below.in a vertical lite config the plant turns towards the light source and imo its not its natural state of growth and wastes some energy to conform to its environment and lighting.these plants are designed through evolution to grow upwards and spread out as they grow.just my take on bottom lights
You just taught me something. I never realized the point of the texture on the leafback. I realized the top to essentially be a solar panel, but didn't consider the CO2 thing.

..300w from 30 emitters? Like, not even talking shit, but that's severely underdriven if you need 30 emitters for 300w. I get 241w from 3 emitters for a 4x2 area. Not to mention the cost of 30 emitters.
No real heatsink required, it would also be done with 9 dollar 1212's. The efficiency would most likely be upwards of 70% vs low 50's or high 40's with overdriven 3590's. 400 dollars for 210 par watts vs 100 par watts on the 241w light.

I see, I see. I was only trying to help, hope I didn't come off pompous.

So basically running them at about 350 mA?

edit - just saw your post was a couple months ago - have you done this yet?

@robincnn how many watts can the slate 1 run with active air movement ? I have a small fan at the top of my tent blowing down "lightly" on my two board build. I've pushed up to a 150w total and in week 4 of flower. I want to see if there is any results going to 175w after stretch is over.
