This is interesting. Arent COBs all the rage these days partially because their intensity and penetrating power?
Penetrating power comes from overall light in a given area. Secondly these can have much lower thermal droop as the heat is more dispersed. These are designed around optics as such they put down bet impressive numbers in both cases.

Have You Tested This Theory??
Not personally but let's just say greenhouse guys have been looking at this for a long while......
What I do know is without optical control, a lot of the light can be wasted on walls isles ext. Don't get me wrong I love Cobs no doubt but there is more than one way to skin a cat. I've got eyes and a lighting passport and I can tell you with certainty that these boards with the optics they are designed for are as intense as any cob light I've ever built. @robincnn will stock the optics in the coming months but we will be glad to point users in the right direction until then.

Please do as I was not aware there was going to be an option for optics here just thought it was the board on the heat sink :)

Well this certainly does seem like a new interesting way to skin a cat however it seems like it might be a little expensive compared to an equivalent cob setup...

The optics aren't that bad honestly and as I said to get equivalent efficiency you'll need to run 2 1825s per board. So no not really expensive just easier in my book. No thermal pads/paste holders soldering and can mount on a lot more things than cobs. IE thinner baseplate. I'm building a concept for you guys right now. It's a plain piece of aluminum 18"x24" with 2 boards screwed to it. 1 fan mounted on backside. I'm going run them at 80 watts each. The plate will stay cool to the touch.

Best thing is they can be added at any time.

Either way Im very curious to see how they test. I could at least see them being great/perfect for supplemental side lighting if nothing else.

So you built a NextLight?...Just pulling your chain....Looks legit. Glad to see a cobber recognizing a different approach. How many watts is that unit? Dimensions and weight?

Must be an inside joke...or we have very different senses of humor...because I don't get it.

Nonetheless, good luck.
