Ok..so I just started these seeds about 3 weeks ago..so far there good.I have them in small plastic cups, with coco-coir and perlite....I leave em' in the sun for the day,and under 4 cfl's when the sun goes down.I water with bottled water, and I sprinkled some bat guano a few days ago...but the leaves are somewhat droopy, not as "perky"as they should...some of the leaves are curling back...no nute burn,or other obvious deficiencies...so any help man?Ima post better pics soon...:bigjoint:

Do they STAY droopy? Or do they only droop at a certain time of the day?

I think its one of 2 things.

1. Its just getting ready for bed.

2. You're over/under-watering.

They arent really THAT droopy..but theyr just not as perky as other sedlings Ive seen..the leaves dont point up.And eys, they stay droopy.Im growig in coco coir, and I water every day around the evening, until some water pours through the drainage holes....so should I wait for the coir to get dry before I water,or should I keep watering every day? Thanks for any help in advance!

You need to allow it to get dry before giving it more water.

How certain are you?Ive always read to treat coco coir as a hydro medium..and that means watering frequently..and never allowing it to get dry?....should I really let it dry out..and THEN water?Apart from over watering, whcih it might just be....what else can be wrong with them?Another thing, should I keep them under cfl's the whole time..or windwosill for the day, cfl's at night?

I have no experience with coco or hydro. Disregard what I said. If you've read that you're NOT supposed to let it dry... then its probably correct. It just looked like a mild case of over-watering to me.

Does the window sill get DIRECT sunlight? If so... then let it get as much direct sunlight during the day as you can and then put them under the CFLs.

Im not gonna lie,it only gets direct sunlight for about 1-3 hours a day..not much...I started them there, and they got pretty stretches..ever since Ive put them under the cfl's..the internodes are kinda closer..anyways Im soon gonna have better pics.

I have 3 cfl's...one is 42W "Brilliant White"....and the rest are 24W "Soft White"...so am I good? They are in a cooler in my closet, with the lights suspended above them about 4 inches away..no fans or nothing...is my setup good enough for now?The bulbs themself are in 2 y-bulb adapters.

Oh I am TRIPPIN..I forgot to mention one thing..which I was sure I already did lol...both seedlings have a purplish-reddish tinge on the stems...Im sure this is a deficiency, but I dont know what...the leaves are good, nice and green...they arent the healthiest of seedlings, but this is just a learning experience until I get my 400 HPS..then I will go by the books lol....

So are you saying that the red stems may be natural? If so,why should my leaves be froopy like that? How can I get em perky?

Its pretty hard to overwater coco but they do look overwatered. Make sure your day/night temps are ok and I would try to water every other day unless they are drying out which I doubt since they are only getting a few hours of sunlight a day. You'll know if thats the problem within a few days.

I would say over water, I have 2 power skunk in flow right now and as seedling they never looked like that.

Excellent comments guys..I really appreciate it guys...I guess Ima wait for the coir to get dry,and then water..I hope the leaves perk back up in a few days.If not, then I know there is a deficiency...another question, what happens if the Ph is too low,I read that the average Ph of bottled water is around 4-6..which is kinda low...apart from that, shold I water with mollases too,or just the bat guno? Thanks guys.

hey outlaw i have grown in coco for along time just straight coco and always keep it wet with even a little bit in the bottom of container for small plants but i have it under a 400 watt HPS.check your temps, its not root bound?i would say more light, but it does look like its to wet they should be pumping at that size.:peace:

Dp not worry about the purple stems. I highly doubt any of these people who have given you advice accually have grow in COCO. You have only fed the bat Shit from what I have read. COCO has zero nutrients in it. You need to feed them. As for the person who said to let it completely dry out before watering.. TOTALLY WRONG. It is almost impossible to over water coco. Water them once a day. WITH NUTRIENTS.
This is what I remember from my past. As I no longer touch that stuff.

Best of luck.

Sorry Drifter, I did not see your Post. I would not have standing water in the bottom though.

thats all good dangly bits i only have water in the bottom incase i cant get to it in time the next day,but your temps do have to be good and your PH as well. and you are right there is nothing in coco i use superthrive on small plants-clones good stuff,as well as a product called rootblast which you dont feed for 2 weeks after you repot and then nutes all the way til the flush.:peace:

P.S what do you use now why no more coco?
