pot top to light 4ft - sativa/sativa dominant quick flowering- any ideas?

top them or train them or both. I've got three feet total height and have only had to get rid of one haze because it was just TOO tall. training will generally give you more bud sites too. Check out Uncle Ben's tutorial....there are lots more folks with pics and help, i just remember his is a good one.

What wattage light? Is it air cooled?
You can train a plant to grow any height you want - I had a batch of 6' - 8' "high" sativas that I bent 90 degrees at the stem base and grew sideways - 8"-12" buds sticking up off the stem. I just had a 4" Kali Mist that I put into flower as a 2" clone.
A simpler way than training is to clone: determine the strain's stretch; put the plants in the 12/12 at: [Flower Onset Height = finished height desired - stretch]. You can trim the bottoms and make budcycles.
As far as a full size plant in that area - you have 4' of grow space and will loose around a foot for heat space between your light and cola tops - you have 3 vertical feet for your plant.
I have, all double topped:
Red Diesel = V16" - F34"
Kali Mist = V14" - F36" (expect another 2")
Bubblegum = V16" - F36" & F38"
Big Laughing = V12" - F18" & F19" (single cola)
V = end of veg / flower onset
F = finished height of tallest cola on plant.
Don't worry about the strain height (within reason), pick the high you want, think about the grow period and skill required, learn to clone and train.
