Possible Cal-Mag Problems (Nectar for the Gods Nutes) AMARE Led

Hey everybody,

Here's my current set-up...
  • 2x4x8 Gorilla tent
  • Amare SolarPro300
  • 2 Cheese feminized early veg (2.5 weeks)
  • Manifolding
  • Roots Organic Original Soil
  • Nectar for the Gods nutrients
Possible Cal-Mag Deficiency...
  • As mentioned above, I'm using Nectar for the Gods nutes and I'm about 2.5 weeks in.
  • I just topped to start the manifold
  • Been experiencing crispy tips/lightening on leaf edges (see attached images) on the older leaves, newer leaves are not affected by whatever is happening
  • I ran a slurry test and my soil is at 6.3 with 447 PPM
  • I don't believe this to be nute or light burn (newer growth not impacted)
What do you think?
  • The Nectar for the Gods feed chart says to feed in early veg at a pH of 6.1-6.3
  • I've been keeping it at 6.3
  • Should I up the dose of Demeter's Destiny(cal-mag equivalent)?
  • Should I up my pH to get my soil above 6.5?
  • Any help is much appreciated!

Im no expert but ive been told its virtually impossible to have cal-mag deficiency with NFTG nutes.

Again no expert but looks like overfeeding or ph issue to me.

Hopefully some more experienced peeps will chime in

With roots organic, no need to feed till at least the forth week. Ride it out giving it water. If you have a kelp fulvic Humic blend I would give them that to help absorb the extra nutrients added.

Thanks! Yeah, I ran a slurry test for the soil and it's in the range that NTFG recommends as well as PPM. When they're ready for the next watering, I'll pry keep nutes out and see how it responds. I've had issues with the Roots Organic Original soil running super low in pH when doing a slurry test. Was at a 5.4 pH with over 2000 PPM. I did a pre-plant flush with Herculean Harvest to bring the pH up.

Over fertilization.

The weird part is, if it's over fertilization, why would it only attack the older growth? The newer growth I've had doesn't seem to be impacted the same way.

It's not attacking old growth, it's growing out of it as it absorbs the nutrients. Stick with just water for the next two then for the third time add Cal mag.

You're making this way too complicated. Get some good soil, plant your plants, let them grow, start feeding them when they start getting big and can actually use the food. Forget the slurry tests, pre-plant flushing, etc...
It's a weed. Easy to grow. No need to make it difficult by overthinking and overdoing. Leave them alone and they'll recover. Before you know it you'll be harvesting some good nuggets.
Good luck.

Herculean Harvest is the most acidic product in the NFTG line
Yeah, I'm not sure. I'm new to NFTG. Their feeding chart mentions to pre-plant flush with Herculean Harvest and or Olympus up to bring pH up. It definitely helped bring up from 5.4 ph to 6.3. I'll take a picture of their feeding chart and post. I was feeding for early veg.

Cool. Thanks. I'll stick with just water for a bit.

I have both the old and new feeding charts- this is the third year I've used the NFTG line and have a pretty good handle on it

The recommendation regarding using HH/Olympus Up is somewhat confusing, but what they're saying is if you want to raise the pH, you can do so with HH and Olympus Up or just Olympus Up.

Sweet. How early do you start the feeding? Do you follow their schedules and strengths verbatim? Are you feeding every time you water? Sorry for the 20 questions, just frustrating seeing this and not knowing completely what the problem is. Most on here are suggesting it's over-feeding, which I don't disagree with, initially seemed more like cal-mag issues, but I'll dial back on the nutes and see how they respond.

Right away, but I'm using clones and grow outdoors in pots

Pretty much, except I don't use HH until I start seeing preflowers- the first year I grew I only used Gaia Mania and Medusa's Magic during veg and got good results
Are you feeding every time you water?
Yes, but I don't overfeed- when the plants are small they are in 2gal. pots and get 1/2gal. a day. I probably underfeed a bit to be honest

I've never heard of anyone having cal/mag issues with NFTG, which is calcium-based
