Possession and New Laws

When the new system comes into place in 2014 how will possession laws change?

Currently, if you have a card/paperwork for an authorization to possess you can posses whatever your limit per month is. Under the new system, if you are already a patient you are to send in your original Health Canada ATP forms to the commercial grower you choose.

1) Will that grower then send the patient back paperwork that authorizes them to possess just that company's weed?
2) Will that paperwork be a standardized form that each grower will have?
3) If a prescription is for 2 ounces a month, can you buy an ounce from two different growers?

Thanks for any info!

A: The LP would have to send the originals back to the patient once they ensured the document is authentic and they made copies for their records.
2) Will that paperwork be a standardized form that each grower will have?
A: Not sure about a standarised form but each LP will require 1- An application form, 2- original medical document from Medical practitioner (Doctor or potentially a nurse practitioner), 3- consent of personal health information disclosure.
3) If a prescription is for 2 ounces a month, can you buy an ounce from two different growers?
A: I haven't seen anywhere in the MMPR any restriction on limiting the patient to one supplier. If so this would be thrown out as anti-competitive. So my assumption is that you can get your medication from different LP's based on your preference as long as the monthly prescribed amount is not exceeded.
Hope this helps!

1- apparently the only thing that you will have to make the medication legal is the label on the storage container.
much like when you get a prescription filled at a pharmacy it has a label with the info.

2 - pretty much applications will be the same from every LP

3 - NO, each prescription is tied to ONE (1) LP. to deal with multiple LP you would require a script for each.

I am pretty sure LPs are required to retain the originals of the documents - application, medical document, and consent. The original ATP issued by HC is to be returned to HC. The only time you would return the original Medical Document to the patient is if they or you cancelled your services.
