Pollinating One Bud Per Plant; A Query

Howdy, new to this section. I have some Haw. Sku. Hz pollen. I want to dab a bud from a few strains with it, one bud per plant. A Cheese, a S.A.G.E. & Sour, a Fruit Punch. Is this a proper thing to do in a flower closet (carefully)? Not a commerc. grow, so a few unexpected seeds not a problem.
I was thinking of touching a toothpick with the pollen, and touching the pistil of an emerging female with the toothpick. Either that or a Q-Tip.

Has anyone done that, informally cross strains just once, and find something interesting comes from it? The Haw. Skunk femme produced a big center cola on a slender reasonable height plant. Would dig that characteristic in a bubblicious or something./ Yes, probably pie in the sky, but I have to ask.

Thanks.

hell yea you can!
if you like those strains chances are the f1cross of those will probably be pretty nice as well.
just do the pollination outside of the tent qhere there is little to no airflow like in your bathtub let the ppllen sit 30 min- an hour then spray with plain water and back into the closet, toull have pollinated pistils and all tge extra pollen that could mess up your whole crop will then be rendered non viable from the mist.

i use a model size paintbrush to do just this

Thanks, I like the water idea. OK, so F1 means that it is a first time thing? I wondered what that meant, Nirvana is always mentioning it. Thought it was the strength of a hurricane and the writing on my old draft card.

Good, should be fun. I have to shut down the science projject (as I call it), life is in transition. Figured I'd make some dna to put in the future file.

that gave me a good laugh haha no its not hurricane strength it just means the first filial generation.... or basically when you cross 2 strains that are unrelated its an f1 then if you go brother to sister its f2 and so on. f1's will generally be mofe vigorous and mix relatively uniformly when using 2 ibls so progeny should pretty closely reflect parent stock in yourf1 if that helps.

I use a Q-Tip :) Just make sure all of the fans are turned off. I like to bring breeding plants into my guest room - I pollinate them there and let them sit for a few days in order to reduce unwanted pollinations. It takes up to a week for the pistils to turn brown, which let's you know they've been pollinated. Chyea... love making my own strains! GL

If you want to keep it too one bud, get a small zip lock bad and put the pollen in it. Place it over the bud n close the seal around the stem. Flick it a few times and it let it sit for like two days. Your other buds will be fine
