Plants more Dangerous than Assult Weapons

Harper also reached out to gun owners, apparently alluding to a recent decision by the RCMP to ban a previously legal rifle, the Swiss Arms Classic Green carbine.

Harper said it’s completely unacceptable that owners of the weapons should be subject to an “arbitrary stroke of a bureaucrat’s pen.”

“We have ensured owners of those guns will not face prosecution,” Harper said

Now, when we go back to the implementation of the mmpr, when 40,000 sick people were told to destroy their medicine in the name of public safety, were we not subjected to an
“arbitrary stroke of a bureaucrat’s pen.”?
What I take out of this, is, Stephen Harper thinks my plants are a greater risk to society than are assault rifles; We were threatened with arrest and imprisonment. Or does he? The Cons are talking about allowing possession charges to be punished by a ticket (watch for this to happen before the election starts), which makes me think Harper also feels marijuana possession is no more of a risk to society than jaywalking. Anybody else confused?

I think the whole decriminalization of cannabis is just his way of appeasing not only the medical crowd but also the recreational. In his sick mind I'm sure this is "throwing us a bone" to get people to vote for his sorry ass. The question should be is anyone dumb enough to fall for it. I can't give an opinion on the firearms issue as I don't personally own one. It simply sounds like it's business as usual for Harper, picking and choosing what is or isn't affected by a “arbitrary stroke of a bureaucrat’s pen” depending on what and how the outcome benefits him and his cronies.

The Swiss Arms Classic Green Carbine is a very cool looking weapon, looks like an assault weapon. I would like to get one if you still could.

Um i think people are confused. The Cons are NOT going through with decriminalization. They want a ticketing option for small amounts of posession, sure you will stay out of jail (maybe, it's the officer's discretion after all) but it will still go on your record as an infraction or whatever (think speeding ticket). This is NOT decriminalization.

You're right..it's not decrim , but it will not result in a criminal record and gives law enforcement the ability to treat it the same as jaywalking or speeding. Giving a cop the choice depending on the kind of day he's having is dangerous and will be challenged in the SOC, I'm sure. Hopefully it won't get to that and we show Harptler the door in a year.

Sounds about as appealing either way. Also, rather similar except in name. Either model would be unwanted in my eyes personally. Legalize or don't half ass.
