I have trouble on my last 2 grows.

I am in 3.5 gallon buckets
2 airstones black tubes

using canna aqua nuts

temps are 75 day 60 night
600watt
water temp at 64
Mean Green
Super Lemon HAze
hum @23-30%

Plants are small been in veg for 4weeks and not growing

Problem happens when i add my nuts in. the next day i will have slime on the airstones and my plants will sag. my roots will turn brown and die. I will then remove all dead roots place in water only. The plants will come back and start new roots. when i add just a little bit of nuits it happens again. I have done the H2o2 thing. it will come back as soon as i add nuts. I have tried sub culture, did not work. what could be my problem. I am think of switching to Adavanced nuts.

Yeah sounds to me like those nutes are doing you wrong...what is the ph of the nute solution once you mix it up and what not?

you should post pics of your setup so those who know can spot problems for you,.. also we'd need to know the ppm level of your res solution, and your pH

Black tubes are only really important with water pumps, air stones can have clear tubing without any problems with a simple pressure check valve.

Oh and pictures are worth a 1k words

Void: I've had too much trouble iwth the clear plastic air tubing kinking. I replaced it with black 1/4" drip irrigation tubing and it worked great. HSA

Too much nutes? Use 1/4 strength not full strength to start gradually increase as plant needs. You are using ph and ppm meters correct? If you are not, STOP now and buy some or go back to another medium.

What are you using to protect from rot in hydro? H2O2? Zone? Aquashield? Beneificials? If nothing use something.

I doubt its over fertilization because I have burned the hell out of my plants in DWC ( very easy to do) and never once had slime. Slime usually comes from warmer water temps are you sure your water temps are a constant 64 degrees like you say.?

Put your air pumps outside the room or else you're sucking in hot room air into the buckets.

I've heard of nute burn leading to pathogens. Anything that stresses a plant is going to leave it more suseptible to disease.

No one has mentioned this but huge temperature differences slow a plants growth. You got 60 nights and 74 day temps. That's a big change for the plant. Cold weather in general slows growth.

OK.. fair enough. Try this then, take a 3.5 or 5 gallon bucket and take a healthy rooted clone, put the recommended dosage per the bottle of Sensi 2 part and see if your roots don't appear to be rotting. I agree its not rot or slime but it sure looks like it, I think its more a root defense mechanism from being blasted the !*&@!) with ANs over powered formula. Not saying that is a good thing.. neither.

Touche' you bring up a good point! I dont do DWC much anymore but when I did I would use a lot of different additives from General Hydroponics and they did stain my roots and made them appear slimy root rot type of look Flora Blend and Floralicious plus did this to my roots and you're right it was not anything but a mere staining of the roots... Ha! You made me remember!!

Good idea with the pumps.

60F might be alittle chilly for some strains. However in nature there IS a difference in temperature between night and day, so its always been thought best to emulate that indoors.
