Planning this dwc setup, any advice??

after years of using soil im making the move to dwc, im wanting to get roughly 20oz dry every 2months (give or take a couple weeks). I have 3 'tents' to use, one for cuttings, one for a mother and one for the bud porn, the flower room :-P

The flower room is 1.2m sq and will have a 600w in there. Im planning on using one big tank, ive seen a 90litre at my garden centre and wondering if that will do for 8 plants?? I plan to flower at a height of 8" - 12" (20cm - 30cm) and will be starting them off in the cutting room with 2x 125w cfls with the intention of having them under the 600w for only a week or so before going 12/12.

I have a hailea v30 which is pushing out 30litre a min and is rated at 25w. will this be enough for what i want??

Nutes will be GH flora series and plan to use the lucas formula because thats what im used to, will be adding pk13/14 too.

strain will be next gen's grapegod if all goes well, a heavy producing indica from what ive seen and read :p

what im wanting to know is this sounding an ok setup to be getting the yield im after?? any info or advice from the deep water heads will be much appreciated! :joint:

I think you should consider RDWC or maybe UCDWC, rather than having a bunch of individual buckets. DWC is great for a couple plants.. don't get me wrong.

Plan resevoir cooling, it's essential in any DWC.

i plan on one big bucket (90litre) instead of alot of little ones

whats the difference with rdwc and ucdwc??

thanks

There's soo many reasons not to do single reservoir-multiple plants, so instead you connect all of the individual buckets (or your choice of reservoir maybe coolers) that have one plant in them either by recirculating (RDWC) or an undercurrent (UCDWC) method, please don't ask me to explain those any further.. just do a search on here or google.

Like void said, you will have a lot of trouble doing a res change with a lot of buckets in DWC. I used to run 7 or 8 DWC cooler buckets and that shit was time consuming work emptying and refilling each individual bucket.

ok but if im using one strain which i know is female thats going to cut alot of problems out isnt it? Itd be more ideal to have one big res for me, because like you said alot of little ones sounds really time consuming, unless there all connected that is..

The res ive found is 90 litres (23gal *i think*), does 8 plants sound too much?? If i can figure out a way to drain the res without moving it im hoping i'll be alright..

will look into temp control for the res aswel, thanks

put aside all the convenience purposes.. with one large bucket and nothing to control your roots your looking at roots being tangled and fighting for oxygen (much like the reason you dont put two plants in the same soil pot), you'll probably be ok if your using the same strain as far as nutes go SO the feeding schedule will be similar. but another thing is thats a big space to try to evenly distribute bubbles to all areas

30Lpm in 23 gallons will be great. Try to get an airstone under each plant.

20 ounces off a 600w is very possible.

I understand what Void is saying and he is right if you are to busy to tend them. However I do single 5gal buckets for the following reasons. 1 It allows me to stagger my grow adding one plant a week to the flower room for a total of 8 weeks after that I harvest one plant a week It's work but It's worth it I have been getting about 6 oz dry a week with the bag seed strain that I'm growing. 2 If I have a problem with one plant it does not affect the others

thanks for the replys, i think getting the bubbles evenly will be a bit of a challenge but 'do-able'

faller - ive seen this method in theory but never seen anyone do it... do you have like 8 or 9 plants?? each plant being at a week difference into flower? height must be a challenge if there all at different heights..? and that avatar of yours made me LOL
