Places You Were Loathe to Visit But Ended Up Loving?

Were you ever worried about visiting an area, then went there and found out it was awesome? For me its been Texas. As a native NY'er I was unsure if I would like it, especially after time spent in AR and OK. Then I spent a month in Texas for work last year, and just got back from another week, and I fucking love that state.

I still hate Houston metropolitan area, but the Hill Country is awesome. Brisket from a roadside trailer that blew my mind, then visiting the Shiner factory. And I was worried about visiting TX for years!

Anyone else ever been remiss to visit a place, then find out you love it?

South Beach: Thought it was too commercial. It Is. But there are other things... people. Beautiful women, cute guys and lots of sun, international feel, sex, drinks and weed. I love it.

was really looking forward to going to italy..had booked a nice trip for me and the gf, first to lake como, than the f1 race at monza, and then a week in venice, and was really not a big fan...
thought the people were a bit, idk, i won't say rude, just not uber friendly, like all of the people i met in spain..

Lived in Alabama for a year and a half , hated it.. Most racist closed minded people I ever met and most expensive weed I've ever bought, and that's a swag bag!! Unless meth is your thing, they almost give that shit away cuz every other house is making it.. Beautiful landscape tho..
