I do not have any super technical info to add to this, just an observation.
Even at roughly 4ft from the light source there is no way that mono led's are blending with whites or cobs at the plant leaf surface making a harmonious light spectrum.
If so, please explain how this led beaming through a few holes my cats scratched in my cheapo ebay tent can be broadcasting this on the floor outside the tent?
I bet led chips under a phosphor diffuser will be the future of led lighting

If trying to emulate the sun in an indoor setting how do you account for Rayleigh scattering and the changes it creates in spectrum throughout the day? Or would you even need to? Do changes in spectrum throughout the day have any effect on the plant?

Surprisingly, the amount of CO2 in human exhale is not to be underestimated. Normal exhale is 40000 PPM and if you hold your breath it can be as high as 80000 PPM. When the humid season comes to my area I shut the windows and run the AC and dehumidifier to keep humidity under control. If you have a good sized garden the CO2 levels can drop very low in those conditions so it makes a lot of sense to exchange the air in your living space with the air in your indoor garden. I have been very curious about the difference between the two air masses so CO2 meter is on its way for some testing :joint:
Hey Supra, I use 30 litre fermenters for brewing alcohol to do oil extraction & for the odd wee drink. When I put one of them in the tent with the girls they love it. All of a sudden the 35degC+ temps from hps are not so bad with heat of day (heat also increases fermentation rate) with averages of 1500ppm+ Co2. Lights out & the fermenters slow down as well, I get about 4-5 days per 30L brew with high grade yeast- yet to try lower grade.. I have a wireless weather station in the tent as well to monitor temp, R/H & Co2 (Netatmo, even has a phone app so can keep watch while at work) and that has shown me an average unsupplimented Co2 level of 400ish ppm, that will spike to 800ppm when I go in for a perv, and up to 2500ppm with 3x fermenters. Thats how I found out that just one fermenter at a time was plenty- in my 2.4x2.4m tent which so far I can only use 1/2 of due to elevating temps from HPS lights and up to 38degC local ambient temps in summer. And that is why this lil' ausy is hangin out here to learn about LEDs. I'm waiting on the last parts to arrive for a 12x vero29cSE, 112 discrete colour chips on linear strips & a double 90w ChilLED gen2 DIYer on a 25x50mm ally box tube water cooled frame with a StormX controller. I will try using the whole space after I get 1/2 of it to grow happy & I see how many more thousands I need to spend on COBs. The money I've spent is crazy, but so was the money I spent on cool tubes, fans etc trying (unsuccessfully) to keep things under 30degC. Cool tubes were good for heat reduction of 5deg+, but, like a handbrake for growth rate. In the end- the product was a bit fluffy and lacking oil...but nice.

I wish I could ask the girls if they prefer their light to be perfectly blended, or, if they are colour blind and only sense different intensities of energy... farkn interesting stuff.
