Interesting with the air cooled hood led... that's some clever shit. Are they behind glass or is the glass just removed?

Amazing gardens all around! Wish I could be at that scale, not quite there yet. Planning maybe 4 individual 4x4 cubes, that's probably my limit until I'm less busy growin kids and more busy growin plants...
glass is removed. i had a piece of plexiglass i used as a template to lay out my heatsinks and drill my holes and then just taped it to the aluminum and drilled the holes with the plexiglass template laid over it. worked out well. all heat producing components are mounted inside the air cooled chamber

photon asshole is more like it
any expansion upon this?? bad personal experience? lol

it's quite an idea, I happen to have one of them gigantic XXXL hoods with a 1000w in it now, i was planning to sell it, now you've got me thinking down yet another track haha.

I just noticed there is a PPFD chart in this thread for an 8 panel 600w build and the numbers are really impressive at 18" down.... I really do just want to go ahead and buy some but the lack of customer service has me worried. Like are they even going to ship? How do I know? Erf.

i dont know if i can fit 8 of those on an old reflector lol. im gonna do six and throw a single hlg 600 in there to test a single light first. if it performs well i will upgrade my old lights. i could also upgrade to aircooled DE setups for about the same price. i may go half and half to see what performs better. the DE's would have to run at about 750W with my 8' ceilings and the LED push about 666w at the wall with the hlg600. either way im saving watts and a metric fuck ton of heat. the heat is what gets me. power is relatively cheap here but not when you have to cool a bunch of lights and its 115 outside

Glad I'm following this thread....

For anyone who hasn't been able to get ahold of me, apologies if I haven't gotten back to you. I'm still running a 1 man startup and my instagram DM's stack up faster than I can answer them so [email protected] is the best way to reach me. I even go on video calls with customers if they need help with wiring or driver selection. I'm also working on 2 new plug and play fixtures and getting them ETL listed so that takes a bit of my time.

Someone already said it but at 75w (2.1a) and less, the boards have an energy density low enough that they don't need a heatsink, just a frame to mount them. I also don't have a written warranty for my DIY LED boards but I have sent out new boards for anyone who complains about diodes being out.

Anyone who wants to reach me or call me "Photon Asshole" can reach me at the above email address.

Thanks,
Owner, Photon Fantom Designs

oh, I also just got a regular par meter instead of my spectrometer so I'll be taking a lot more PAR maps this week and weekend.
Glad to see you're kicking. I do understand that you're a one man show and that there's a lot of people to get to. I tried email first and never heard back which is why I even tried DM.
Do you have any info on fusion board availability? (ie, some kind of time frame)

I don't have that many questions at this point, but I feel better knowing there's someone there before placing an order, will probably move forward with a purchase soon. I am considering waiting for the fusion boards though so if you can give me an idea on that it would help me plan better.

Edit: Sorry if I came off as impatient, not meant to be as such! Thanks for getting back to us.

my plan was to retrofit my old hood with aluminum sheet and attach 6 and have them aircooled. works great with my COB rig that i did. ive got big rooms with lots of light and im trying to save heat and energy all around. may test it out on a single light first before i jump all in and dump 10k into LED. ive got about 3k invested at the moment into COBS and they are great. just looking for the next best thing for when the desert sun comes out again and we hit 110 degrees outside

Hey DH. Are those plants in the PPK system? I think i saw you mention it in a megacrop thread. If so have you got some build info in some thread or could i hit you up on a DM? Dont wanna be a derailer...

Glad to see youre doing fine with the business. Still hoping for international shipping soon, or at least to the EU.

I'm excited to see! I need to fill out my 4x4 with more light asap and I'm very undecided.

What board would be your pick if you had to throw all but one away?
I feel like the fusions must be the best since it's unavailable hahaha. (That's how everything else in my life works)

not really. i used my spare ppk parts to set up a DTW manifold system. now i can drip to waste and it collects in the lower bucket system and i can vac it out every few days or as needed. if i recirculated it would technically be a ppk system

I am planning on a phantom board.
Can anyone recommend a 60-75 watt driver for this board??
I do have a 80 watt driver laying around but it’s 2.4 amps but afraid that I would need a Heastink within.
Trying to not use a heat sink.
Off hand
What’s the average watt per square foot to use??
Since it’s a cab grow I have 22 inches from medium to light.
I try to grow plants about 14 inches tall
Since I have small space should I go with lower amps. Say 1.2 instead of 2.1???
Thanks
Thanks!!

the LPC-60-1400 is a pretty good driver. Average watt per sqare area depends on what you're trying to do. I run 18 watts over 6 sq feet for clones, and I've ran as much as 40w per sq foot for flower in a 4x4

Thanks!!!
My currant set up is:
20 inch by 20 inch
I have a 15 gallon notill
It’s 22 inches from soil to top.
This is a bloom cab
At this time I have a mars300 ( 118 watt actual)
And 2 Cree 65 watt cobsrunning 50 watts each @ 1.4 ma. with thier total 100 watts.
Cab Total wattage is approx 218 watts
That’s like 70 watts ( give or take) per square foot.
I want to pull out the mars and put in a sunboard.
Should I plan on also pulling the Cree cobs out??
I guess I am haveing a issue wrapping my mind around possibly lowering the watts for a better grow???

70w/sq foot, with 22 inches of headroom? Sounds more like an oven than a grow cab! What strain(s) are you growing and how old are the plants?

I have 2 sunboards running on a HLG-150-36a and they work just as good as my quantum boards. Also the owner has answered questions that I asked him on Instagram before and was very nice to me.

Maybe a oven for those who do not understand cab design or growing.
3 plants in a 15 gallon
14 inches tall
Soil temp is 55
Cab Air temp is 2 degrees above room ambient air temp
I am growing c99, Super Silver Haze, and Red Dragon
Just chopped SSH, and Red Dragon
2 months in veg Chamber
9.5 weeks in flower
I maifold the. Plants.......
Now that that’s outta the way.....

With my headspace I want to use a 65 watt driver with a fantom board
What difference would I get if I ran 1.0 ma instead of 1.4?
Less Penatration??

One reason I’m leaning with a fantom instead of a quantum is they run on 36 volts and being that I’ve made a few cob fixtures I already have 36 volt drivers.
Fantoms checker board design helps with heat, and in my small space any help with heat management is welcome.
Both owners are pretty cool too.
