phosphorus and watering

One more noob question for the master. I have some big fan leaves that are covering buds. Better to leave fan leaves on or do you remove? Thanks again, really appreciate the help!
Those big fan leaves make a lot more food to feed those buds than the tiny bud leaves can make especially as they are further from the light than the top leaves. Plants have a circulatory system just like we do so food, sugars etc, made by those big leaves gets delivered where it's needed. Tuck a few if you have to but removing healthy leaves works against you and I don't give a flying f'k about what these defoliation proponents got to say about that. Anything that's removed from the plant the plant will divert energy to replace and I want all that energy going to build bigger colas.

I chop all the big ones first and that opens up the canopy to let the lower ones ripen up for another 10 days or so. Tehy get a lot bigger and greener too.

The buds look a little small for 3 weeks. Is it 21 days since you flipped to flower? And did you start any bloom boosters at the flip or wait like some misguided people say to do? I start bloom nutes and boosters a week before I flip to "prime the pump" and my buds look like that 10 days to two weeks in. I'm using a 1000W HID most times too and that makes a big difference.

Not bad tho!

I just have an oscillating fan going continuously. Believe me that plants don't need a calm time to absorb CO2. Do you suffocate on a windy day? I know we have lungs to draw air in and out and plants don't but with calm air how does the plant draw in anything? Movin air will work better and doesn't have to move that much so a windy room is not needed. Just enough to flutter the leaves a bit.

I'm selling my Polar Bear distiller to get a decent RO unit as I'm expanding my grow to use 4 RubberMaid tubs in a flowering room while vegging others to replace finished ones. Each will be independent of the other and have a 4' x 20" ScroG screen attached with two plants per tub. A 1000W Super HPS will ride a Light Rail to cover the 8x4' space they will flower in. Hopefully with a UV light source attached to each side of the open wing reflector to boost resin production. Very eager to get this going but the wife used up all my lumber for her damn chicken coop and I have to find $150 or so to replace it. Have everything else I need to get it going other than a decent wall-mounted oscillating fan. Another $50 for a good one.

I just can't dig Indian music at all. ♫ ♪♪♫ Just give me some Rock and Roll. ♫ The kind of music that stirs my soul. ♫♪♫ I reminisce about the days of old. Give me some old-fashioned Rock and Roll! ♫♪♫ I probably mangled the lyrics. :)

Thats what i thought with the leaves, but i just thought i would ask you. Thank you again.

I didn't start the bloom nutrients until i started flower. Will remember next time to start a week early. Also i made a rookie mistake and had the PH too low for the entire grow which really showed up during flower due to the pH requitements of phosphorus . Lastly, im only using a 205 watt Optic 2. And for the final cherry on top, its my first grow. Wish i would have gone on a board like this first. Got all of my info from youtube. Honestly just hoping to make it to the end of flower.. and then the real challenge of timing the cutting down of the plants, then hanging , then curing.. ooooooofffff. I stil have a lot to learn for that stage.

Thanks again for answering my question. Hope you have a great weekend!

You think I knew all this stuff when I started? I grew my first buds in 1978 in 5gal pails of farm dirt, sheep shit and coarse gravel. Didn't havea clue. Had tehm unde about 10 or 12 4-fot shop lights on about 15 hours a day steady and they finall flowered with nothing but little buds. All bag see from that era in Calgary. Thai stick, Jamaican Red Hair, Maui Wowee and some Mexican sativa.

On and off over the years not really getting into it too deep. Moved up here in '01 with 6 hash plant clones and there hasn't been a day that there isn't pot plants growing in my house since.

Read everything you can about pot and add gear when you can to get better yields and after a dozen grows or so you'll get comfortable about it all and always have all sorts of good pot to smoke, eat or whatever.

Some guys take 3 or 4 grows before they get a thing but if they listen, read and learn almost anyone can get the hang of it.

It's supposed to be fun!

Im growing 2 plants, and the bigger of the 2 (during veg) has slowed its bud production (im in week4). Im posting some leaves. These came from the bottom of the plant. Its only these two leaves but im wondering if i need to modify my nutrients. I have PH now at 6.5 so it shouldnt be an issue. Thanks for any help on direction.

Only two leaves does not a deficiency make. Would be on lots more if that were the issue.

Remove any damaged leaf tissue so it's easier to spot if it's still going on. I snip the bits away and leave the rest of the healthy leaf.

Watch and wait before doing anything that may make things worse. High N can slow bud growth in later flowering like around week 4 so go easy on that. After the stretch I switch to Lucas Formula type feeding to cut back on N.

As always, ty OMU. I really appreciate your wisdom. If you ever need help with a stock chart let me know. Been trading since 86 and know a thing or 2 on how the markets work.

That's something I am completely ignorant of. Sure wish I'd learned more about finance when I was younger. Should be a course in high school or earlier as most people end up like me. I would be a wealthy man now instead of scraping by on a pittance of a disability cheque from the gov't. I've never been ambitious and after watching my dad die at 62 after working his ass off all his life decided chasing the almighty dollar was not for me. I decided to be the grasshopper and not the industrious ant in this fairy tale. What a schmuck! :)

Got 13G to pay off on the house and eventually about 100g inheritance coming if and when my 90 yo mom passes but she's still going strong so will probably outlive me if I don't give up smoking right now but traded an oz of pot for 11 lbs of leaf tobacco a week ago and it tastes so good in the cig tubes we crank it into with the machine. Almost 3G it would cost to buy the regular tobacco we've been using for years. An investment I shouldn't have made. lol

Seriously considering starting a small lab for testing THC and CBD content and offering sampling for all the new home growers about to get into it when Canada kicks off Prohibition 2.0. Should be able to have it all legal and above board unlike starting a dispensary to make quick money and open yourself up to raids and criminal charges. 100G ought to cover startup costs with good used equipment and as I already have a diploma in environmental chemistry would just need training on whatever equipment I get to do the sampling with. Definitely would need a partner well versed in the business side of things as I'm an ignoramus in that too. Should be able to offer sampling for less than what's out there now and increase the type of sampling and grow the business from there.

Would need help setting up a business plan to secure financing but could probably get 50G by tapping my future inheritance if I can convince my sister, (has her own bookkeeping business), and her convincing mom it it's a sound investment. Lots of irons in the fire atm and not even sure where to start.

Might be easier to get into trading but there again, no experience.

Did have but gave my camera and mic to a friend I built a computer for a couple years back. Didn't work worth a crap as we have a pretty slow wifi connection here.

I really couldn't devote much time to getting into learning all that new stuff right away. Filing complaints with the medical system, fighting for my provincial disability I was denied a few years ago. If that goes they'll owe me 20-30G in back payments like a buddy got. That would make me motivated to learn how to make more with it for sure.

My retirement plan atm is my $13/week lotto ticket buys. The big one's just around the corner. :D

You should be applying more K than P at this point of flower. A ratio like 1:2:3 GMB and you could leave out the extra N in the Grow. That's the way I use it with 3-part nutes. Extra S will help with resin production as well. It's the "secret" ingredient in most bloom boosters. I uae Big Bus and it's 0-15-35 with 10%S, 20 amino acids and a couple more things like ascorbic acid, (Vit. C), and citric acid. Can grind up a couple Vit C tabs too.

Distilled or pure RO water has no pH of it's own. People just don't seem to understand that. It's the minerals in water that give it pH and they have no minerals thus no pH. Always mix in all your nutes etc then check pH and adjust as needed. Unless you are using a cheap silica supplement which should always be added first. The pH can go up to 10 so should be brought back down around 7, then add nutes and check.

I use the Rhino Skin silica supplement from AN and it works with the pH Perfect nutes so don't need to make any adjustments or bother checking the pH. I'm an achy, tired, poor and lazy old fart so the easier it is to do the better. Cheap too if you don't toss out good nutes every week like they want you to so you have to buy more, more often.

on my non nute watering days i tried a mix of vitamin c / molasses / little cal/mag / and little big bud and the plants seem to really like it. btw, im budfox9. i had some issues with the old user name... got into an argument with someone big on this board about health care lol ban-d !

Probably shouldn't mention that last bit. ;)

It's fine to argue as long as you keep it civil. Name calling or threats is a good way to get the bum's rush.

I'm good at calling someone an ass without actually using the word ass. :D
