PH in my res not staying stable

Before I go out and blow a grand on a Hanna PH controller / doser, is there anything I can do to keep my drip to waste reservoir PH from continually climbing? I have been having a continual battle with rising PH since I switched from hand watering (start of this grow, just gone to 12/12). I have a 140 litre reservoir that is kept outside of the growroom in a dark spot. Temps have been a bit high as it is peak summer. Res hitting 27 celcius.

Currenly using the House and Garden line as follows:

Week 1 flowering:

3mls per Litre Coco A + B
0.5m/l Nitrogen
0.3ml/l Roots Exelerator
1ml/l Amino
1ml/l Multizyme
0.1ml/l Drip clean

also using 2ml/l of Canna Rhizotonic

Tried both tank water (0.2EC) and tap water (0.7EC) than has been left standing for 24 hours.

Originally I had air stones in the res however it kept bulding a big brown layer of froth on top as well as the PH climb so the H&G rep suggested switching to a stir pump which I have done.

Still having the PH rise from 5.8 to 6.8 - 7.2 everyday.

I am using Phosphoric Acid to PH down.

what are u using
the rocks
hydroton

i was using the rocks and i had the same issuse with the ph climbing ........so i changed out for the clay pebbles soaked those thing in water for 20 mins to get the dirt off stired around dump the water out dumped in fresh hot water phed it 5.9 and left it like that for 6 hours ................took the pebbles out and used them no more issuse

the PH should drop if anything if it keeps going up and unable to change u need to look at the water lvl and alter it so less contact with the rocks

That system actually works out to be more expensive once you add the options like power supply, pump or solinoid. Cheers though. :)

hanna was under 1999 on the page when i looked it up

worst case this one is 1000 and the pump is a good they use it in the medical feild think it could be part of a kindey machine or a bypass pump ....that is the 1000 buck option

and i must thank u .......u gave me the name and word i need to find the parts i was looking for

in thoery thanks to u i can set up a remote grow and only need to go by maybe once a week to check on things and flush the system when it needs too
the place i linked u has a automatic feeder 8 slots and ph system ...........combine that with this bad boy.........just tie in a float fill valve of the feed line for the cold water for the washer

then i can set up a camrea that has a sound senors so if the alarm ever goes off i am notified and can correct or have a buddy close by stop in and do it

man if u were with in arms reach i would give u a gallon of moonshine .........u finished the puzzle for me i am sorry i can not help u i have not gotten into coco

my honest best idea would be to tell u get this ..........this is 3 different sets and mixes of micbros and fungi it is coco safe it should help the trouble with the inbalanace in the system natural .......like they do in hydro and soil they adjust ......then the only way it should go after that is down as they use up feed and water the ph always lowers and needs to be increased the more they use and drink the lower it goes (dwc i assume it same with coco)

I must admit I am a bit surprised at the lack of PH dosing systems out there.
Also had trouble finding a feed pump timer that would so 1 second incriments only once ever 24 hours. plenty out there will repeat every 8 hours or 12 but wtf not a day?
Ended up making my own timer.

Those rapid pH swings and froth are indicators of biologic activity. I'd only get changes that fast when cyanobacteria was present. Spending all that money on a auto pH system is like putting a band-aid on a shotgun wound here. You need to get your res temps way down from 27c. In the meantime you can brew some bennie tea to try and get it under control. I was only able to get my pH under control in those temps by using Heisenberg tea. Since then I have moved on to just plain old unscented bleach in the res, but I never recommend it to anyone.

i just checked out the pump u had linked ...............i think they are doing that crappy selling method

the money u pay u get the pump and the meter but u do not get the other stuff ......i looked in accessories and they list the parts of the system as different buys links

Pump and controller - $699
PH Electrode - $55
Injection valve - $25

Says it comes with the suction valve, and discharge valve. I don't require the foot valve or the ceramic weights as those are for a larger acid container like a drum. I'll just be using a gallon jug with the plastic tubing going in through a hole in the lid.
What I liked about this unit is that is has the ability to slow down the pump as it gets close to the set PH level. A seperate pump is either on or off (although some have a manual setting to slow the pump speed).

House & Garden are saying the Amino treatment does raise the PH as I am seeing as there are bennies in it.

Nothing else seems to be a problem, the solution looks and smells normal, the plants are growing like weeds with no deficiencies. If I didnt have to keep an eye on the PH everyday I reckon I could actually go away for a few days. Maybe even a week.

pH doser on the way :). My res is stabalising after 3 nights (well only jumping 0.2 per day instead of 1.2) now but still would like something automated so I dont have to keep checking it.

Still this device has to earn my trust before I let it loose on the girls so I will set it up with a 20 litre (5 gallon) bucket of water and keep manually dropping some pH up into it, see if it can keep that stable and not over dose.

Can report that the doser is keeping my res within 5.8 and 6.0. I had to dilute the phosphoric acid down to 5% as the pump is quite large. Also needed to install the injection valve up stream of the pH probe or it tended to over dose.

Also when it pumps it makes a loud click so if you need super stealth I'd not recommend this doser for you, though it does not run very often. Maybe 1 click per 5 hours.
