Perpetual grow within legal limits

I'm currently setting up my first grow. I would like to keep a perpetual grow and considering everything going on right now, I want to keep it within the legal limits. I am only growing for one person.

Anyone out there with a single patient perpetual grow within the limits? If so, what kind of cycle do you have going and about how much do you average on your harvests?

Thanks!

Are you planning on cloning or growing from scratch? I like trying different strains and not being stuck with just one flavor.

If I was going to try for a perpetual grow I would flower 2 at a time, 12/12 from seed and start 2 more every time you chop 2. You could even just flower one at a time if you really didn't want to go over your 2.5. 12/12 from seeds usually yeild around 2oz.

Or you could clone a mother and go that route if you want the same meds all the time.

I plan to have six different stages of plants, 2 groups in veg and 4 in bloom.
I will rotate them every 20 days cutting clones from the group i put in flower last time(20 days into flower).
I will clone/veg for 40 days, flower for 70 days and flush for 7-10 days.
I might adjust this slightly as i have not ran it yet but plan to update my journal so feel free to see what happens. :)

I have a couple of blue cheese clones right now and I'll be keeping one as a mother. I'd like to put the other to flower now, but I'm not sure if I can since the grow room took longer to set up than I thought and they're both getting pretty big (20"). I'm worried it will grow too tall in flower.
Anyhow, I may grow or get a clone of another strain at some point just to have two different kinds going, but I don't think I would do much more than that since each strain is at least one more mother, which uses up one of the ridiculously low 12 plants we're limited to.
I will probably avoid growing from seed since they're too expensive and I don't even want to think about dealing with trying to do males and seeds too.
.
Fry, that's an interesting setup. I was thinking of going more with a sea of green type thing and starting flower without vegging too much. But now that I think about it, vegging a bit longer and doing fewer but bigger plants is obviously a better way to keep the plant count down. When you say "groups" how many plants are you talking about? I was thinking my max number in flower at a time would be 4, otherwise with the clones and mothers it seems like I'll be above limit.

Why keep a mother plant? Why not just take a few cuttings off the one you are about to put into flower and then root them? This could be good for the height thing too if you decapitate that tall lady before/ at the beginning of flower.

I was thinking about cloning that way too, especially since keeping a mother from getting too big sounds like a bit of a pain. At first I heard cloning that way would degrade the strain over time, but after more research I haven't seen much real evidence, mostly just people talking.

As far as decapitating the tall one, would that be okay to do right before going to flower or would it need time to recover? I'm assuming that would be similar to topping too so that may be a good idea as long at cutting off a good amount wouldn't hurt the plant too much or slow it's growth in flower.

i have a perpetual of 3-4 plants at all times and i am taking clones and starting fresh and throwing in a nice plant for shits and grins. i am averaging 4-5oz every 4.5 months with 3 grows per year. not enough to make money but just that small amount keeps me off the radar :-)

^Cool. My patient needs about twice that much so I'm thinking maybe 4 plants and rotate one out to harvest every 2 weeks. That would be a harvest of 4 plants every two months so I would need to yield about an oz a plant. With that type of rotation, I could root/veg each clone for up to 8 weeks; although I'll probably root/veg for 4-6 weeks since my flower area is only 3'x3'x6.5' so I can't let them get too big.

I also thought about scrog to keep the overall plant count down, but I'm afraid that may cause larger more infrequent harvests, which would cause problems due to the 2.5 oz limit.

Just kind of thinking out loud but any comments or suggestions are definitely welcome.

Haha, true. I guess I'll probably just do hash or extract if I'm producing too much (that would be a nice problem to have!).
I guess I'm just paranoid about always being under the limit with all the shit going down lately. I miss California and sensible limits...

dude youll be fine, just dont go around acting stupid or trying to sell all your shit to people. They dont care about small time people that are keeping their nose clean. they want the 50 pounds someone is trying to offload to a dealer. youll be fine.
