Patient goes "manic" with mmj

I would say this guy had problems before he got his prescription. I would bet that most people with mental issues have tried mj to help them cope with their demons.
If mj CAUSED this manic behaviour wouldnt most of us just sell our house and head to the casino?

Ummm,,

read about 3/4 down the page where its says... " could be the RRSI's doing him in."
Oh really? for fuck sakes...!!!!!!
The pour fuck is on mind altering SSRI meds. Sadly MMJ does not play a good role when on this kind of SHIT!!! but I'd bet it was the SSRI meds that made him this way ....!!! If he had stopped them and stayed on the MMJ..who knows !?!?!
"Other drugs that Saunders was prescribed for anxiety may also have played a part."
YES SHIT SSRI meds shit !!!!! specially when given out like candy for LONG TERM and NOT FOLLOWED!!

WTF is wrong with our Med system that they allow shit like this to go on ......
oh that right... it only ADDS to the pile of cash being made. My bad.... :cuss:

Sounds like the guy had a mental illness that went unchecked and eventually overwhelmed him. It's really a sad story to tell the truth, but I have a hard time even considering that marijuana was even a significant contributing factor.

10 grams a day does sound extreme. I don't even use 10 grams a week. 3 joints first thing in the morning? I usually take maybe 5 or 6 puffs around lunch time or so, just on the weekends. After I've had my coffee, breakfast and have gotten good and woke up. If I do work around the house, it might be 4 or 5 in the evening before I light up. After I get the work done. I think 10 grams a day is for a patient who has a seriously debilitating condition and is not trying to function normally. That's just too much pot. Smoking like that will eventually burn a person out.

But, I do have a friend who smokes like that. She is such a total burnout though. She can't enjoy marijuana like I can because if she's got it, she smokes it constantly like cigarettes. For rec and light medical(I use MJ to help me sleep at night), moderation is key. Actually, in everything you do moderation is key. If you like to eat and eat all the time you will get to 500 pounds and have health issues. I had a friend die last year in his early 40's. He drank every waking hour of every day. And he had been hospitalized prior to that for serious issues, heart, circulation(his face was always dark red and blue colored) and the doctors warned him. He didn't even slow down. Now he is gone.

Anyway, I feel bad for that guy and his family, but, I honestly don't think MJ was significant in his demise. He has other major mental issues that went unchecked. I'm not a doctor or a scientists though.

Thankfully... people are more aware of that shit now. Feel very sorry for the ones who get put on it!

I have seen what ingesting oil can do to a person coming off of SSRI's.
It can increase the symptoms they are trying to get rid of.
Bi polar can't be much better!!

uhm...10 g a day isn't much in my house. use the RSO at a gram a day and you are around 14 a day without smoking. lots of pain patients could use 10+ a day easily

I did include this little tidbit. "I think 10 grams a day is for a patient who has a seriously debilitating condition and is not trying to function normally."

I'm mostly a rec/MJ helps me sleep at night and relaxes my anxiety. I am certainly not trying to be a doc and prescribe doses to anyone else. But, to me, that's a lot of smoking. I wonder if I could even smoke that much in a day. Like I said, that's just me.

I still believe based on what I did read the person in the story had a severe mental condition and breakdown. It probably wouldn't have even made the headlines if the family didn't push the MJ issue. I dunno know tho. If you took out the MJ script? Would this make headlines? I dunno.

most I see are worse off but it takes too long to see it. more bad than good from what I see. Only because most times it's easily given when someone says they're miserable for what ever the reason at the time. and they DON'T NEED IT!!!!

The joke that they prescribe Ativan like candy is beyond me. Anyone on that shit longer than 4 weeks is not told they'll be addicted to it ...and possibly for life!
That's ok though(not)... it fuels the buis eh ;) :cuss:

Sounds like he had an underlying condition that didn't have anything to do with MMJ. Nevertheless, some assholes will misuse such cases to try and tar the whole marijuana industry.

It's already been tried here in Colorado- but people have simply asked about the ratio of problems with pot vs other drugs, prescriptions and booze- and sure enough, weed looks pretty good by comparison!

I was given Ativan by the handful during my stay for a quad by-pass....in order to keep me calm....
and that was mostly because the two doctors that consulted my angioplasty could not agree on a course of treatment....
one older doc said without a doubt...i needed by-pass...the other younger doc said he could treat it with drug coated stints... they argued into a heated fight right in front of me....then stomped out of the room....after they told each other to go F--K themselves....I kid you not...
so a couple of hours later another doctor came into my room and asked me how I wanted to proceed....
and I said but I don't know...since...the two consulting doc's had left me in limbo
anyways I was given 10 mins to decide...and I was pissed...
talk about stressful decisions to be made by someone who had already just had a massive heart attack
only a few hours before....
I finally asked the third doctor what he would do if it was him....
he said to go with the by-pass....so I did....

My wife had a quad also. But they did not put her on Ativan thank god.
But alas she passed away in 2014 due to kidney failure.
