I love edibles... my cannabutter is nuts if I do say so myself

I'm really interested in your tincture recipe... I need to quite smoking completely, and want something that isn't a gnarly lipid based vehicle for the thc (like butter, for example).

Can you only use hash for it, or do you think you could run a larger batch with trim, too?

I have done a similar recipe with trim but it is hard to get the dosage down consistently. With that recipe you use a lot more alcohol to dissolve the goodness out of the trim. Then you have to boil the alcohol off until you are left with a viscous resin concotion. You then add that to glycerin. I don't like the taste of that recipe, either. Seems like the chlorophyll taste takes over.

Chlorophyll borophyll, heh. (Billy Madison reference, sorry) I'm sitting on a bunch of trim, and I'm not sure if I want to make bubble hash or do a big butter batch... decisions decisions.

Have you sampled any of the jarred goods yet?? They look mental. . .

I know, I get all gourmet about the taste of my tincture. I don't mind a bit of funk in my oil (used to do vegetable oil, now doing coconut oil) because I turn that into rice creepers with chocolate and peanut butter that masks about any nasty taste. In fact, people who eat my creepers say they actually taste good - which can be dangerous.

I haven't tried the bud yet from this harvest. It is curing along nicely and should be ready in another week or so. I did smoke some of the scissor hash while trimming and I think I like this DQ outdoor better than indoor. I won't make that final judgement until I get a chance to try some of the properly cured bud though.

I live in Boulder too. That shot looks similar to what I see out of my back door. Great job on the grow and I love the comprehensive review/pictures. You are always welcome to pass some of those genetics my way :)

Coconut oil, eh? Now we're talking... my wife has gallons of that shtick around the house. She is from Hawaii and uses it as lotion... looks like Bobo might be stealing a little bit heh heh...

Another thing I've thought about making is my own pills... the ones that I've bought at the clubs here are strong as all hell, and all in different forms. Some are your straight hash oil pill, but then there is another one with oil soaked trim inside of them... they take upwards of 3-4 hrs to kick in sometimes, but the high is nuts man... Like, take one at night sorta deal, wake up REAL baked still the next morning. Nuts!

I don't use any flavoring. The alcohol and glycerin don't have a flavor so the tincture tastes pretty much just like the hash.

Nice to have a stash of coconut oil around the house. I had to go all the way to the store for mine...

I've thought about making pills too. I've never tried any from the clubs. I gave up on dispensary edibles pretty quickly because it seemed like you were rolling the dice on what effect they would have. I think they've gotten better the last year or so but I make my own now so don't need to pay for 'em. Sounds like the ones you found are pretty potent!

I think my next edible adventure is going to be hard candy. It seems like you would get a mix of sub-lingual and ingested uptake. It seems to me the sub-lingual kicks in faster and the ingested lasts longer. Hard candy might be the best of both worlds.

Sounds like we may need to chill a little longer next weekend and talk cooking too! I am a CIA (not the govt. Agency) grad and have some books with tons of candy recipes. I agree they provide sub-lingual and ingested relief so they seem to have great medicinal application....not to mention perfect for someone like my dad who is working to regain his swallow reflex.

Nice! I would definitely like to talk hard candy with you. I bet it would work really well for your dad. Sounds like you might be making it before I do, so I'll be looking forward to your recipe... 8)

Hard candies are great! Have gotten a lot of lollipops from the clubs here, and they're awesome.

I think we got lucky here in CA, as things started off a little faster, and we were quickly introduced to a couple of great edible makers with great product, which is nice for when you run out. Course, I mostly make my own now, so...

Dude, that chick is KILLING me! Her articles actually make me stupider. I wish I was kidding about that.

There is a fairy floating around the skies... I wonder where she'll land. Hmmmm.... Boulder?

Based on that one article, I'd say she's a good candidate for Boulder City Council...

No problem Snafu mon. Thanks for checking back in and answering my questions. Hope you enjoyed your time in Jamaica.

I think I'll try to chop my PB a little earlier next time based on your recommendation. I cut this one at 65 days. After it cured out, the smell leans a bit more to the pungent/rotting side rather than fresh citrus. I love the high as-is, but I bet a few days earlier and she'd be even more upbeat.

For the record, since you were nice enough to give me the data on your PB experience, I should share with everyone when I chopped all my plants. Here it goes:
Dairy Queen - 58 days (both of them)
Querkle 4 - 64 days (she was a bit less indica dom than Q2 so I pulled her earlier)
Pandora's Box - 65 days (next time I'll go with 60)
Querkle 2 - 68 days (I was looking for a night cap with this one so ran her until she looked like she was getting ready to turn shemale)

Not a problem. Jamaica was awesome, got some real nice dank from a rasta. They seemingly sell you the whole plant down there for cheap. Just gotta know what you're doing, and know how to barter/trade.

I have popped 5 Pandora's Box in August and today marks their 7th day flowering. They are all looking nice. I plan on a pre-Christmas harvest, and planning on taking them all at 60 days. You're exactly right in your observation; the high doesn't change much (its all pretty upbeat), but what does change is smell and presenation. At 60 days my phenos smelled like straight lemon/cherry candy...it is some of my favorite smelling herb...I am actually growing it again for more of the smelll than the high.

I grew some Mr Nice Medicine, Man from Shantibaba on my last run and that smell came the closest to PB compared to all other strains I have experienced....more lemon-y than lemon cherry like PB, but still dank none the less.

Alas, I will be running TGA Vortex and DJ Short Blueberry my next run...prob Blueberry first, I am getting sick of multi-genetic runs....Im hoping I get a beuaitful pheno from the Blueberry in order to prop a mother.
