'Dispensing marijuana has no quality control, no standardized composition or dosage for specific medical conditions. It has no prescribing information, nor are there any high-quality scientific studies that establish its effectiveness or long-term safety.

Marijuana products are restricted for good reason. A mountain of evidence now exists that seals the case that marijuana is not safe for human consumption.'

I love how in one breath she was pointing to the MMPR as how patients should access their medicine, and now says that it's unsafe for human consumption.

She's become really unhinged since the Allard verdict, it's pretty funny to watch :D

My letter-to-the-editor response...let's see if they print it!

I wonder where Pam's been hiding for the past decade that she hasn't noticed the medical community is embracing the use of cannabis to treat the symptoms of many ailments with outstanding results. From reducing or eliminating seizures in children to helping grandpa deal with joint pain, to treating depression, it's uses are almost endless. I don't know what qualifies as fact or evidence in Pam's world, but it's effectiveness in treating these and other issues without the negative side effects of prescription drugs is pretty convincing. Here are 60 peer-reviewed studies to start, if she prefers science: http://medicalmarijuana.procon.org/view.resource.php?resourceID=000884

I wonder what kind of quality control Pam expects there to be around a plant, and whether she is just as concerned about the quality control of lettuce and potatoes. Many medications have 'use as needed' rather than a specific dosage, it is quite common and in no way limited to cannabis.. As far as studies to determine long term safety- there are thousands of years of cannabis use without a single overdose or fatality. Which pharmaceutical manufacturer can boast the same safety record?

Pam tells us marijuana is restricted for 'good reason', yet she forgot to mention what those reason are. She also boldly states there is a 'mountain of evidence' that “seals the case that marijuana is not safe for human consumption.”, but oddly enough fails to provide a single link to back up such a statement.
Weird, huh?

I wonder if Pam can understand the city is being proactive by setting up regulations around dispensaries. I also wonder if she can share the data she used to conclude regulated dispensaries negatively impact our emergency or healthcare systems. Our charter states all criminal charges must be justifiable in a free and democratic society. As a majority of Canadians support legalization and the government has a timeline to make it happen, continuing to lay charges is defying the criminal code of Canada, not the other way around.

I wonder what Pam's real agenda is? What personal axe to grind does she have against the large cross section of Canadians who use cannabis for medicine or recreation? Why all the concern over something that doesn't affect her? Her life must be a sad, dark place to spew so much hate and negativity at a group of fellow Canadians simply because of their choice of medicine.

But, most of all...

I wonder if Pam's attitude towards the plant might change if her child, parent or self was suffering from a condition that could be successfully cured or controlled by cannabis? Or would she watch them die while she waited for studies...?

It's not funny, it's pathetic. There is a group of very conservative individuals to whom facts, statistics and evidence, indeed the truth itself doesn't matter. Conservative journalists, police chiefs and the like have their heads stuck in the sand where prohibition is concerned. When one individual or very small group assumes it has the moral authority to make decisions for everybody the present abuses occur. We need to make sure that these people, especially Bill Blair do not have sole representation on the legalization committee. Otherwise their version of legalization is to make it legal to continue to persecute, prosecute and imprison thousands of innocent citizens . Nothing else will satisfy these people than maintaining the Status Quo, indeed get rid of the MMPR and intensify their "War on Drugs". Worse is the present uneven application of the law. We are, in our Charter, guaranteed equal treatment under the law so these police chiefs who insist on strenuously enforcing the present letter of the law are actually violating our Charter Rights. So those who are still doing it (and they will) will continue to keep enforcing the letter of the present llegislation under the Criminal Code . They will try to do it right up to 11:59.59 pm of the day legalization is passed into effect. Are they leaving themselves open to Charter lawsuits? Maybe that's what it will take. Either that or make the Prime Minister enforce our rights in view of the official policy of legalization. Let's see, R. vs police Chief? I like it!

Yep. Decades from now these morons will look as foolish as those who supported alcohol prohibition, supported denying women suffrage, etc.

Pam would be a good fit for a CPC MP given she's all about ideology before evidence.
