"Outdoor Harvest: Mid-September": What exactly does that mean?

OK, this could easily go into the Newb question forum, but I figure this was more of an outdoor question:

So at most seedbanks, info about certain strains include the outdoor harvest time. So, just as an example, take Barney's Farm's LSD, which has a stated outdoor harvest period of mid-September.

Does this mean that this is when an LSD will be ready to harvest no matter where in the world you are??? I live in the tropics, at 21st latitude, and our seasons are very, very mild. As far as I know, mid-September is about the time when we START having less than 12 hours of daylight.

So will an LSD in my part of the world STILL finish mid-September as listed?

Check an almanac. Sounds like shell be a month or so later than stated. Its obviously regional. Isn't it winter in like china or some shit? Forgive my geographical ignorance

Nah, man..I'm just at geographically ignorant. I'm actually in Hawaii...sometimes, I just get overly paranoid and sht giving away my location.

That listing of "Mid-September" is weird to me, then. Because what's the point of putting a harvest time like that if a strain's harvest time depends on location???

I guess it ain't a big deal. I'll probably just have to find out for sure by throwing them in some soil and seeing what happens. I'm the type of dude who just likes to figure sht out though, so I'm trying to understand how the outdoor growing works here in Hawaii. My mind is all messed up though since I JUST learned from that sticky about how "indoor rules don't apply to outdoor growing." Shoot, I always thought that 12/12 was word....that most strains would START flowering outdoors at 12/12...

Thanks for the reply, though. Rep for effort.

Hawaii I'm not to knowledgeable on but my guess would be another month. I don't listen to the harvest times anyway. I like my trichs the way I like em so idc what others say. But yea. Very very very very few indoor rules apply outdoors. Its a whole different ballgame for sure. But if u can grow indoors u can grow outdoors. Just remember the phrase "its ok" cause a lot of shit you'll see you wanna do something about but if its properly acclimated to the outdoors "its ok" idk about there but here slugs are a big problem so keep prevention in mind.... Btw u suck. Wish I could get an outdoor run in out in hawaii lol

maybe I can help...?

what that is stating.. is simply this:

"Outdoor Harvest: Mid-September" - this is stating that, if you properly plant your plant out doors when sowing time is best to start, or whenever its recommended that you start your plants outdoors, its simply stating that the plants should, in theory, be ready to harvest by, or something in, the middle of September. Meaning your buds will be ready to cut!

but then you need to let them dry.

and then, I also recommend letting them cure for a little bit. Like around 4 weeks or so.. in a sealed mason jar. Air it out every day.. for around 30 minutes or so... to keep mold or fungus from being born. Don't want that happening for sure..

But, you don't have to "cure" them.. you can start smoking them once the drying process is completed.

Hope this helped! peace..

In Hawaii, you're dealing with a climate and photoperiods that aren't addressed by most Northern European seedbanks.

Based on a ton of reading(I've never lived in the tropics) indica strains might have difficulty finishing in the tropics.

Sativa dominant strains will do best.

Look into South African strains if an early harvest is important.
