outdoor grow help

well, i have been searching for a while now, maybe not good enough but, i figure i will just ask here. i am planning an outdoor grow and was wondering how exactly to do it, i was planning on digging some holes and filling them with some scotts moisture control potting mix. after my germinated seeds sprout, i was going to let them sit outside for a few days with plastic wrap over the paper cups to let them get used to the weather outside , is this correct? then when i transplant them into the potting mix what exactly will i need to do, like when do i add nutrients and how do i avoid burning the plants? will this be good? i am a first timer and a complete noob. so thanks for your help and time
