... Been busy lately. Life is swift friends. But a crazy awesome positive is our newest family addition. Nerds, meet Zoey.

Shes a beauty man.... Congrats... I've been thinking about getting another one myself, I lost my red nose female pitty last year after being in our family for 10 years or so which sucked but I keep seeing pics of pups everywhere and I'm finally starting to want another one... I think the pics of zoey sealed the deal though...

Dabumps.... R/O man... Its the only solution... I was against it except in hydro but I had fairly decent tap water but recently I've started to find mineral build up or salt build up...whatever it is on the bottoms of my pots so busted out the POS R/O maker I had.. I think the thing is like 3 to 1 (waste water vs pure water) which is almost shameful how much it wastes but its the ticket for pure water... You can get fairly good unit for around $200 or so... I've been scoping out units at this place http://www.purewaterproducts.com/

oriah, i need a little advise my friend. I had 4 extra vortex clones that i decided to put into 7gal pots and i now have them in a 4x4 tent under a 600. Im thinking about putting a 4x4 scrog in there and making a big fat carpet of buds... my question is about how big would you let them get before you dropped the screen on them? and would you do any training before the screen? so far they have only been topped. here's a couple photos of where they are today. thanks dude!

Hey grownbykane, if i were you man, if you want to scrog them, id make your screen, make sure it fits good and tight so it dont fall off. Then id put it like 12" above the pots, so you give your self room to water. Then let your plant grow till fill that screen like 80% or so, then flip. My thought are it might be hard to get back to water the back ones. Maybe not though. Should be a lot of Dank! I miss Vortex...

I haven't grown mine yet! I'm gonna make a huge 16 or 32 headed and put it in a 12 gallon or something and just let it get huge. I guess I have a question. Do I need the large container to be tall or will the roots grow wide.

I have a plant that has a new rubbery plastic smell.. like when you used to get a brand new binder for school with that clear plastic on the outside... or when you got a set of books or something that came in a clear thick, soft plastic container... smells just like that... wonder what terpene that is!

Unfortunately got a few timewrecks with an ammonia/cat pissy terpene :) had that before once with super silver haze... luckily its only in the grow not in the final smoke :)
Lol, my buddy once made some cross with a Pakistani and Headband...

It smelled JUST like that plasticy "new carpet" smell during flower...

Thankfully, that mellowed a bit, and it was sorta fruity after some cure, but really weird to smell a plant like that.

right on. I have easy access to 3 walls of the tent so I think I can manage the back plants. I'll post some photos if/when they hit the screen. thanks man!

Got this from Nathaniel Morris. Hella cool guy on a CBD misssion... Helping kids with seizures with this right now... I dig it.

The Organic Ethanol Method - making a "whole plant" CBD tincture using organic ethanol.

Equipment list: Heated stir plate with magnet, Vapor hood, 800 ml glass beaker with lid, Organic ethanol, sealable vessels.

Step 1 Have your whole flower tested in order to make sure it is safe and high in CBD. Once your sure you have the right plant material, grind the flowers into a fine powder using a CLEAN coffee grinder. If the plant material is not fully dry, allow it to stay at room temperature uncovered in a low humidity environment until it is fully dry.

Step 2 Decarboxylate the plant material by wrapping it tightly in tin foil. Keep the plant material at a uniform 1 inch thickness. Put in the oven
@ 310f for 30 minutes. then remove from the oven and place in the freezer for 10 minutes to cool. Under ideal conditions CBDA will convert to CBD at a rate of 65%. Decarboxylating medical cannabis makes it psychoactive.

Step 3 Weigh the plant material before putting it in a beaker with 10 ml of ethanol for every gram of plant matter. Add a stir magnet and put on a stir plate unheated for 12 hours (6 may be enough). Make sure you cover the beaker, and leave it under a fume hood. Do not allow open flame anywhere near ethanol.

Step 4 Strain the plant matter using vacuum filtration.

Step 5 Pore the strained tincture into a clean glass beaker. leaving the lid off, boil away the ethanol until you have a pure oil. Again, leave under a fume hood at all times to avoid risk of explosion.

Step 6 Once you have boiled away the ethanol, you will have a thick oil. Transfer this oil into a sealed container and bring this oil to Halent (if possible) to be tested, weighed, and diluted in a small amount of organic ethanol to maintain stable dosing.

Here are three cost saving tricks:
1. You can substitute an oven hood for a fume hood.
2. You can substitute a coffee filter and a funnel for a vacuum filter.
3. You can use non organic ethanol during step 3. As long as you boil it away. use a small amount of organic ethanol for step 6 because that is going to be ingested.

EXTREME CAUTION- always make sure the ethanol is not Denatured. Denatured Ethanol is poison (containing methanol and isopropyl alcohol).

Oriah I have just one problem with what was said, cbda when turned into cbd does not cause it to be pyschoactivate. The pyschoactivity comes from thc. Also cbda and thca foes have it's purposes for pain relief as well as antiinflamatory properties. Without feeling high at all. Epilepsy patients prone to seizures is a delicate situation. They need stains very high in cbd and low in thc. I forget where but it has been said thc can actually cause more siezures for epilepsy patients.

All that said sounds really good :) can't wait to see your results please let us all know how it works out

Yeah man, im with you 100%. Nathaniel Morris is using strains that are like 25:1 CBD to THC!
But, I think you could use the same process, only not decarb it, to make a mostly non-activated version? Im diggin...bongsmilie

Sounds good, I can't wait to get my hands on some High cbd strains. Seems hard to do unless it's cattatonic or harlequin. Plants use to be rich in cbds but over time have been bred out to create higher thc strains. Project cbd has list of some good ones but not sure how to get a hold them unless in cali. Or some not being released to public yet anyway.

Document your process I'm sure we would all love to ser it actually done and how it works out ! Maybe do a side by side one decarbed one not.
