Organic Soil... What's the deal

Going to start our first grow patch and have got the lights and setup pretty much together.

Now we are on to selecting soil. How's organic? or organic Miracle Grow? Anyone try it? I know to mix perlite, any other advice?

Cheers

I prefer organic because it is very hard to burn plants. I have used organic MG and it works great. I also use organic nutes like blood meal for veg. and bone meal & molasses for flowering. It grows huge healthy plants and it also adds to a better tasting bud (no chemical taste). It also gives a couple extra weeks of good growing before you harvest because you would usually flush all of the chemical nutes but with the molasses there is no need to flush so you have nutes that you otherwise wouldn't have during that flushing period.

Do you have a local nursery? See if they have some good organic soil, I hated MG Organic, it compacted to much and it had shit tons of fungus knats.

I heard that MG is hit or miss. It gets very hard..right? I heard of other kinds of soil like pro mix, scotts, etc.. Im trying to find a timed release soil that I dont have to add any or very little nutes. Im still vague on the whole nutes thing. Ive tried to read through but get very little out of it. Was trying to find a post with what exactly everything is and what doses to add...

Thanks for the help guys...

Ya the MG got kinda of hard. Do you have an Earl May nearby? That is where I got my organic soil, it stayed light and airy this whole time. You DO NOT want anything with time release nutes.

thanks man. Sounds good. The only thing im worried about is the what kind of nutes, at what times, and the mixtures. Everyone uses different stuff. There doesnt seem to be any real instruction on how to do this.

Lighting, watering, cloning, germination, etc i have a grasp of..

Thanks

When your plants are seedlings, natural soil with no nutes is all they need for at least the first 2-3 weeks. Time release soil does not have good results.
