I've only seen this when the soil didn't have enough drainage. Does it have perlite in it? how does it act when you water it? does it puddle on top?

i just found miracle grow organic garden soil at big lots for $8 2 cubic ft., good ass deal imo, got composted manure, and obviously has a high clay content, so its a good idea to mix it up with some fluffy amendments.
if i were u, dig your plant back out, and add some perlite and coco coir and whatever other good stuff u can get your hands on, worm castings, humus, green sand, gypsum, lime, guano, and bio-tone starter plus (got a lot of beneficial bacteria and mycorrhizae in it)

Miracle Grow makes an organic garden soil and an organic potting soil. The one of the differences is the potting soil is heated up to kill any pest or eggs, the garden soil is not. Thus you are taking a risk of introducing a pest to your grow with the garden variety. That's why the garden variety says not recommended for containers. If you read the fine print on the bag I think it says not for indoors.

I'm currently using the MG Organic potting soil for the first time and the plants seem to be loving it.
