Opinions on flushing

So at the end of the day flushing = no fucking good!
Hmm, I think flushing is completely fine, and can be a very helpfull tool,
...just mis-interpreted of its definition.

What most call "flushing", is really just fading nutrients, or removing all nutrients, to speed up curing time.

Flushing isn't that, as flushing is the cleansing of soil, or medium, with pure water, and nothing to do with curing, as it can be done at anytime, and even to soil, before a plant is planted.

Right or wrong, this industry clearly needs a term for withholding nutrients before harvest, to distinguish the difference, because flushing it is not (although may be used to accomplish this goal).

If you are growing with:

1. Organic nutrients... don't worry about it.
2. Synthetic nutrients... Give the plant plain water.

If your plant is showing signs of nitrogen toxicity. Give the plant plain water and cut back on the nutrient density/ppm when "feeding."

I totally agree and thank you for clarifying that so well.

I have always wanted to know why the kind of nutrients would affect this. I try to time organic nutes to give a little fade at the end too.

I thought the art of water only only super soil was to have the nutes taper at the end as well.

So we call it "starving" from here forward?
Very good info here.
Well, "Starving" won't work either, because some consider "fading nutrients" as the general term "Flushing", as well.

Unless we determine very clearly that Flushing, Fading, and Starving, terms are all very different.
