Opinions and thoughts on Lilith? (Adam's supposed first wife)

Just was wondering how many people were familiar with the stories of Lilith, who is according to some, Adam's first wife- whom left him because she refused to submit to him...(of course if you're unfamiliar with this subject and are interested you can do some further research).. and for those that are familiar with the stories and such- what are your thoughts on it?

I don't believe in any particular religion itself, I just enjoy studying all of them because there is always underlying truths to be had in them..

I like the story, though I'm not a big fan of religion.I like how she refused to bow before man or god, and was cast out because she would not submit.I heard she had sex with demons after that, and spawned her children. But I don't know if this is a later addition to the story.

isnt it all a story. play telephone again like we were children and the message wouldnt make it across the room, let alone through time. were talking animals. we die and feed the earth. its simple, no stories needed.

wouldnt he be missing 2 ribs? bible confuses panda
The story is that Lilith was made from the earth just as Adam.. and since she was made of the same stuff he was, she refused to submit to him and reused to return to him.. God then created Eve from Adam, who submitted to him..

if we lived in the woods and a bear came at us, who fights it? why fight the truth. men are the dominant. i like a woman that likes to submit. feels natural.

There's many many variations to the story- but I like the archetype of Lilith overall..

I find it interesting that in many stories someone who is possessed by Lilith can be identified by the hair on her legs- there is a story of a king who suspected a women was possessed by Lilith, he made the floor around his thrown glass so she would be tricked into thinking it was water and lift her skirt not to wet it- to reveal the hair on her legs to identify her as the demon Lilith..

Funny to me how after she would not submit to Adam or to God's wishes to return to Adam against her will she's cast out and considered a demon... the psychology of the archetype is just so interesting to me..

Women submitting to men isn't natural.. it's supposed to be a two way respect... our roles are different and complimentary..

I would stand and fight beside you, if you were my man.Just because in general women are physically weaker, doesn't mean we're inferior.I would fight right beside you.

HNSMilf: You are correct. Women should not be submit to men. You can't have Yin without the Yang. I believe that the entire story of Genesis is one HUGE metaphor. Anyone that takes it literally is an idiot. No offense to you that take it literally and then disregard it as religious mumbo jumbo.

If you look at anything that Jesus said it was either a parable or a paradox pregnant with metaphysical meaning. Jesus' apostles asked him what the fuck he was talking about in private, right after he gave a public sermon. It is on the damn record if you would read it. So if his closest friends didn't know what the hell he was talking about what the fuck makes you think that evangelical "Christians" know 2,008 years after his "death."

The point I'm trying to make is that Jesus did not invent the metaphor, the paradox, or any other literary tool. Genesis is not supposed to be translated literally you have to find the meaning yourself. How do you do that? Well, even that is told you several times in the Bible if you people would stop going to Church and slurping up spoon-fed babble bullshit. The first page of the book of Psalms says to meditate on the Law of God. Jesus says the Kingdom of God is nowhere to be seen, he says if it is in the sky...the birds have beat you there, if it is in the sea, the fish have beat you there....he says the Kingdom of God is already here and was here before the beginning of time. The only way to find the Kingdom of God is to Look within yourself(meditation, not just "belief" that he is your lord and savior). Just like the Oracle at Delphi suggested...Know Thyself...just like Socrates practiced.

Stop letting religion divide; come together. All religions point to the same Truth.

Getting back to the original topic: I have heard of Lilith and I believe I watch a documentary on the History Channel about her. I believe women should not be subservient to men. You can't have Yin without Yang. You must have both. So....all you women out there, respect yourself Goddammit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is more to you than just that sweet ass poontang....you give LIFE!!!!!!!!!

CAN YOU COMPREHEND THIS SIMPLE FACT?!!!!!!!!!

The story I saw on the History channel said that Adam was unsatified with Lilith because she wanted to be on top for sex and he wanted her beneath him. After that he was all about trying to control her and she was all about trying not to be controlled.

I think the banishment of Lilith represents men removing women from the position of Deity and placing themselves in that spot.

pretty cool ideas here.(even missHesters', but as ive said before, the history channel is a programming station). I also see duality is very important... even our Human DNA has 2 strands...

Why do you hate the history channel so much? They seem to be completely unbiased to me. Since the History channel did a show about Lilith it must all be a lie. I bet she never even existed. Everything they say is bullshit, at least according to ^^^

What is with the "even miss hesters" bullshit. Can't you grow up for even 5 minutes?

I know, Lilith was a Mayan astronaut who flew from central America to Africa to suck Adams dick. She wasn't bannished, she just flew home. (sarcasim)

nice topic.

She didnt submit to Adam, but she submitted to Lucifer supposedly.

I'm not religious or anything, but if you wanna believe we're food for the worms, then go ahead, that what you will be. I'm not, my mind and spirit is more then that. The things we can do with our mind, or astral, subsconcious, ki/chi is amazing. I don't believe we're just animals, but if you want to be, then you are or can be.

You guys shouldn't argue over something that doesnt mean so much to you. It's more important to be nice to a fellow stoner :p

History channel, its cool to watch but like all media you gotta be careful with what they want you to think. If you simply think that Bush is the most powerful man in the world and pulls all the strings, then you shouldnt.
Even the story of marijuana, why it is illegal and why they want the public to think its so wrong is the choice of highers choosing it to be.
