Running two tents, the 5x5x80 as a light-dep operation at night on 12/12, and a 4x4x70 on an 18/6. I've been using a piece of burlap over a SuperSprouter clone-dome to filter-out the LED rays for the teens on 18/6, and the clone-starts don't like 18/6 as much as 24/0, so I'm getting this clone tent delivered this Saturday morning. I've been breathing Co2 on their leaves to try and perk them up. I'll keep it up until the tent arrives. I can't believe they didn't die straight-off under the NextLight-Mini.... a single layer of burlap saved them.10% off sale going on now. Mine shipped quick. Ordered it last night. $71. Best price I could find.

I soaked and squeezed the root riot cubes in Clonex clone-spray solution, then dipped the stems in Clonex, and sprayed Clonex spray into the bottom tray and into the top of the lid, but not on the plant leaves. The burlap comes off and they sit under a T-5 during the day when the teens are outside.

rnd5.A.JPGrnd5.B.JPG rnd5.C.JPG Here's the mod's I made with SuperSprouter's 17W, T-5 using zip-ties. The top bar is movable, so during the day when some plants outside are being sun-hardened, I can move the light directly over the clone-stock.
With the light shade resting on top of the clear cover - Cut the shank off of an eye-screw and JB-Weld it to the top of the light housing, approx. 1" - 1-1/4" away from the ends. Hold the eye's vertical in a puddle of JB-Weld by placing a long piece of blue tape from one side of the light housing, then over the eyelet, then over to attach on the other side of the housing. Like you would a surfboard fin, you're setting in resin. Same thing. Make sure the eye's are straight in-line or the light will shift sideways once the weld is dried. Eyeball the alignment, and move the tape-position if necessary. Let it dry overnight. Hang it the next day. Mine were aligned. No problems with twist.

I ran those pics past Farmer and lowered the T-5 to about 8". He suggested:
"In regards to your thoughts about switching the clones from 24/0 to 18/6 under that 18", 17 watt tube, I suggest you rethink that, and instead keep the clones on a 24/0 light schedule. That 17 watt tube is barely sufficient to successfully clone your new cuttings, particularly after you raised it up by 12".

Once you successfully upcan them to solo cups or 1 gallon pots, and the roots have explored to the sides of the cups or pots, then you can easily switch them to an 18/6 schedule. (Feel free to use clear Solo cups so you can view root growth, but always keep those clear cups nestled within opaque cups and sitting on some Perlite at the bottom of the opaque cups, both of which should have holes for drainage.)
At least that is the routine I follow (with the exception of using clear Solo cups), and it has consistently worked for me. No need to reinvent the wheel, unless you wish to experiment for the purposes of gaining knowledge through experience.
