On/Off functin for meanwell HLG style drivers using dimming and arduino

I have been following the 3 in 1 dimming thread. there was discussion about using the dimming function from an arduino device Arduino uno, Coralux Storm or Storm X or Typhon Controllers. All of these devices use a 5v pwm dimming signal to indicate whether the device is set at 0% or 100% OFF or ON.

I found some interesting reading at various arduino sites regarding controlling real world devices. Storm and Typhon are arduino uno devices programmed specific for aquarium light controls.

I found after reading about the ON/OFF function available to European meanwell drivers, the capability was available here, but you have to DIY it or buy it. I chose to DIY. I found the kit KIT-11042 at sparkfun here ->https://www.sparkfun.com/products/11042 You need one for each light fixture. I built two relays.

Either way. If you have an arduino uno or a arduino style controller; coralux or typhon;, you can now use the dimming function to turn your led drivers on or off without any more electrical timers. Each light needs a single relay and electrical outlet.

I chose to add a 5v power supply for both relays using a 110vac to 5vdc power supply for both relays using pigtails. each relay gets a separate pwm signal from the fabricated pigtails splitting power to dimming and relay. I built the relays tested both and will install in a fourplex outlet with two outlets and a blank for the relays on the other side.

No more electrical timers to fail or the clutter that goes with it, as well.

thanks it was cheap to build and easy to wire, and now no more timers laying around. I am working on an arduino uno Grtowers Controller with relays and receptacles as a DIY kit, already programmed for growers lights on/off, temps, even a F&D timer instead of aquarium tank controllers. I used to program in C, C+, C++ and retired, now I am baaack. peace.

I've been playing with relays - you will run into issues with those relays getting stuck open if you run much power through them, I believe due to inrush from the LED drivers. I had to move to a solid state relay.

There is a 25amp relay available as well for larger than 200w draw on youarduino works the same way. I will post the link.

SO I have narrowed down my choices. I found this unit at adafruit for controlling circuits and it is tested and has a warranty. ->https://www.adafruit.com/products/2935
I am now working on the code for the arduino to power and control the lights and timers, with four to six pwm outputs to control receptacles like this one and led lights directly.

I am working on a grow room controller similar to the Coralux controller for aquariums, but not modified for grow rooms, but totally re-worked and designed with our needs in mind, alone.

I have settled on an lcd shield that has a rotary encoder and can use a menu system. Once i finish the code portion, I wil make it available as opensource. Considering a DIY kit for DIY lights, a controller, two receptacles, and two extension connectors for light dimming and on/off functionality along with an arduino controller with start/stop timing, and recycle timing to replace all timers in a the grow room. peace

i would love to have some type of on / off timing device that will also do sunrise /sunset dimming like my gavita controller does.something i could use on like 3 x 200w bars running @ 240v.

i don´t get it...
replaces timers and recycle timers. How many timers do you have for your lights? One timer for each circuit. How about one timer for your entire system, including recycle timiing for pumps, as well? Each DIY light has to be plugged in and put on a timer as you can only put so many lights on one circuit. This system replaces at least six circuits with one controller for many lights at once. peace.
