Okay to smoke while on antibiotics?

I have the stomach flu right now and while most of the symptoms are gone I still have a slight fever.... Fluctuating from 99.0 to 100 and horrible nausea from the antibiotics. I'm taking ciprofloxacin and metronidazole. I really want to smoke a little to help with the nausea, but I wasn't sure if it interacts with the antibiotics or not? It would be nice to be able to get some sleep tonight.

Feed a fever starve a cold.
Smoke a bowl - ease the nausea - eat some soup.
I've never had a dr. tell me to abstain while on antibiotics.... but then I've never asked.
Maybe someone has a scientific explanation.
Now I'm interested to know.

in my experience i've never had issues mixing marijuana with antibiotics. i've never taken the one's you've specifically been prescribed, but i doubt there will be a negative interaction. smoke up brother :leaf: hope you feel better soon!

Ask your doctor, not a forum. If you're not 100% honest with your doctor how do you expect to get the best possible care? Most likely you're fine, I've never had a Dr tell me not to smoke, except after mouth surgery, and that was due to smoke in open cuts. Only thing I was ever told is don't drink, because alcohol will kill the antibiotics.

Your Dr. gave you antibiotics for a virus?

Get a new Doc, and go ahead and smoke....
Exactly the reason most bugs are now resistant to antibiotics. Unless his doctor cultured and verified he had a bacterial infection or the signs and symptoms were classic for such an infection there is little reason to ever prescribe them.

They can fuck with your own gut bugs too - at least some can. Ciproflaxin is one of those super broad spectrum types that will destroy your gut flora and that can cause problems on its own (including discomfort and gas and other nasty stuff). I think his doctor is a complete retard actually. I don't think he did more than 'oh your stomach hurts, sometimes bacterial infections cause that... here's a broad spectrum that will kill these type of bacteria' and that was about as much thought as was given.

Forget that viruses are far more often the cause of this type of illness.

After you have a smoke, go and eat some probiotics as well. I'd consider stopping the antibiotics completely unless you have a diagnosis that needs them. If you do have a diagnosis (meaning they cultured something, which it sounds like they did not) then make sure you finish as prescribed. Otherwise you're just throwing good money after bad.

It was actually the urgent care doctor that gave me the antibiotics. It was sunday so my primary doctor's office was closed. I made an appointment with them the next day because it didn't seem right being given antibiotics when he didn't even do any tests. I only took them for a day then stopped because they were giving me nausea and this metal taste in my mouth that made everything (even water) taste like complete ass... still does and I haven't taken it in a couple days. My real doctor told me to not take them and ordered tests. Though I do feel better now, only thing left is that fucking metal taste.... which is making me dehydrated because it's so hard to drink water because it tastes like shit.

MJ isn't like opiates or some shit that will offset or destroy your liver by mixing the two. You'll be cool to smoke when on them. If anything weed will help with the nausea and is wonderful when you have a fever because you get 2-3x as inebriated

The metronidazole is for nausea man
And yeah smoking weed will not affect antibiotics at all

I've smoked nearly every day since I was 16 other than stopping for pregnancy. I smoked right after surgery, with pneumonia, after having teeth worked on, you name it. There isn't a single thing that interacts badly with cannabis. Cannabinoids are natural part of our system so anything we take has to be compatable.
