That explains a comment Doc made about a year or more ago on another site. I will have to look for it but he said something to the effect that after close observation they deemed the pre98 to be a cross and not a pheno of the original Bubba after all, so they decided not to use it anymore.
I never understood that because he still uses the pre98 in the Bubba OG but now its clear he was talking about the Bubba Katsu. I do remember he mentioned crossing the pre98 to the katsu to get a better yield about 2 or 3 years ago but i think he stopped doing that. I will have to ask him.

Hey doc. Quite a bit of difference from your s1 to the actual ghost cut.

The growth, fan leaves, and structure are night and day.

My ghost is lanky, stretchy, and will throw mostly 3 bladed leaves with an occasional 4 or 5.

It has me questioning the genetics or the ghost doesn't breed true at all.

Im no expert so I will leave that discussion to people that know better. What i can say is that ive had a few OG fanatics tell me differently, in fact, they tell me its identical. But, as I said I have no clue about this or any other strain and how they should/could look.
Any OG experts care to weigh in?

Lookin good Gruber. Doc's OG is a regular in my rotation. When the lights come on I gonna check for 3 blade leaves on mine. This is all assuming KGP has an original. Im in the middle of nowhere Canada and never get elite clone access. Love your grows Gruber!

Dr Grube..it is katsu all the way…no pre 98…period..
pre 98 bubba was grown once
produced lovely plants that were not quite as potent as katsu
it was dropped..


i have grown MANY of doc's og s1's..for years

they all look like ghost og….

the leaf shape etc will all end up being og by the end…

veg plants can have different visual characteristics due to vayoius factors

my guess is that so many of these dispensaries with these different named OG's
actually came from doc's gear
since he was the ONLY one offering them[apart from the odd auction] when everyone was hoarding
off course not all….but again

"the best one is the one you can grow the best"

same with bubba, chemdawg,and more that few others

kgp's looks like a fine og

once you haver an og…"the best one is the one you can grow the best"

Hello OMS...good to hear form you again. Just so Im clear are you saying that Doc's Bubba x OG is actually Katsu X OG Ghost and not pre 98 x OG?

And, you are saying that the current grow looks like Bubba OG and not just straight OG?
That would be strange...I'll have to double check the pack and see if its labeled that way but im pretty sure it said OG on it. I guess it could have been a mislabeled pack form Doc but that would be a first for me.

I have to agree. I'm not one to boast but I've done years of study, research, and grows with og kush. I consider myself to be knowledgeable on the subject. With due respect, that doesn't look a bit like og. That's why I commented. It's all good though. If you enjoy it, that's all that matters. Good luck, I'm sticking around to watch.

yes kgp i agree!

Dr Gruber..yes he only grew pre 98 once and only did a few og x pre 98 beans
then went back to the katsu because he likes it better
its been a couple years since then
all the bubba ogs are katsu bubba x ghost cut
he is crazy about bubba and chemdawg

i liked pre 98 ok it grew a bigger plant faster
but in the end the bubba buds were more dense for me
and i liked the katsu better for the meds

and yes i know doc's og kush
it is a more lanky plant with thinner leaves
unless you have an amazing light source going
your og 1 looks like og.
the stockier ones are freakin gorgeous..
maybe it will grow out of those leaves and get thinner
but it looks more at this point like bubba og

you are excelling in growing this round

Nah i relooked at that stockier plant

i think they all DO look like the og s1's

i have had the odd one like that

and when they finish flowering they look like the taller plant

AND subsequent clones off that seed plant will have smaller leaves

you have done a good job getting them uber healthy

flower em all out and then we will see

i checked my older photo's yesterday

the doc gt clone i am using now looked just like that slightly stockier one we were looking at

and it ended up with thinner leaves after full flower and looking basically just like the taller one

if i give it good light it remains five fingered

i know all of them will be good

and in my opinion sometimes s1's give special items

i have seen several forum dr gt grows of og and they all turned out good

you are growin em good..and GO 70 days!

even if they look done before

Thanks Buddy!

It was almost like magic. About 2 days after we started looking at the stocky one it changed. I will get some photos up and you will see what i mean. It looks like its doing exactly what you described and the stretch is on.
As for the first plant, it has stretched out almost triple its original size...not the lankiest ive ever seen but i did start them pretty small this time.
