ok heres the set up , i have 2 bagseed growing in a stealth pc case . no sprouts yet but i expect soon . im using coco coir as the medium and im just using tap water and some ph down to get it from 7 to closer to 5 or 5.5 .
i assume i should wait to start using my ff big grow till the plant is out of the ground and growing ? or should i start now while its still under the soil ?
also what is the proper way to add nutes without overdoing it ? start at 25% strength and work my way up ? should i use nutes every other watering or 2 nutes to 1 water ? or nutes ever water ? ( i assume that would be too much and cause lockout )
what would you guys do ?

I dont think you should give them nutes until they've sprouted and are at least a week out of the dirt. I think you might end up killing them otherwise.

I've always let them run with just water for about a week until they look well enough to handle it, and then add my nutes. I've had bad experiences long ago with giving them too much too soon, and it just torches them.

Some one else might be better able to answer this, or have a suggestion for using them in some way, but this is just my opinion.

First of all 5-5.5pH is too low for soil. Your pH should be 6.5 ideally. As far as nutrients Foxfarm is great stuff but you want to ease into it with 25% then 50% and finally full dose starting about two weeks after sprouting. Follow Foxfarms recommended usage and you will do perfectly.

5.0-5.5 is what i bring the water to because my coco is closer to 6.5 and when i add unaltered tap water it raises the overall wet soil ph . so i lowered the ph of my water and now my soil sits around 6 . am i doing that wrong ?

a lower ph is essential. Its not soil its a hydro medium. And it doesnt have much if any nutes in it so I would feed very lightly after a week or 2 . Are you 100% coco. If so then you will be feeding every watering like they do in hydro. Id do at least a straight water once a week to help flush the salts out of the coco. fox farm recommends every other watering on there feeding charts. But thats a soil chart. So id do the every watering at 25% and work your way up. But remember the weekly flush cause coco likes to retain the salts. heres some does and donts for coco

do check ur PH! - range from 5.8 to 6.1 works really well
do make sure you use nutes specific for coco! - this will give the best results and easy of use.
do make sure you use pots big enough for the watering intervals you want to have. bigger pots means less watering. but more water is needed to flush out properly.
do make sure you have run off when watering. about 20-40% is enough.
do make sure the coco never gets dry - this is a hydro medium. watering often gives better results.

DONT treat coco like a soil grow.

good luck

Exactly what he said - i grew in peat/perlite and had the same problem when i started. The plants will die if you dont water often w/ nutrients and always allow for runoff because it (im using organics) seems to never give me pH or Salt problems. Just go with what your plants show you.:leaf:
